I had a Dodo contract for 2 years which expired, and have been on month to month because of NDN coming. Telstra called and offered to take care of everything NBN so I did it because ADSL is coming to a forced end.
I called Dodo to cancel and they want the modem back plus all the cables etc, everything that came in the box or I will be charged $109. Luckily I have everything. I had left everything in the box. They also wont cancel until it is returned
Keep your equipment, it is not dead as a dodo

Never had a clue I would need to return everything
Read your contract when signing up then. They're usually quite upfront about that.
who reads contracts?
it is like,
who reads instructions when you buy something new
:)I was ex contract
I had a Dodo contract for 2 years…
It's part of that 2 year contract terms & conditions and effective till you cancel services. Read your contract.
The supplied modem on a 12/24 month contract must be returned if your service is cancelled. If it is not returned, a non-return fee of $109 applies 30 days after cancellation of your service. See website for current charges.

@Hybroid: It took a fair bit of hunting to find the CIS (the link was tucked away down the bottom of their homepage, rather than being displayed on the plan page like most carriers). Dodo are certainly not transparent about this or much else for that matter. Avoid!
I don't understand what that means
just another way they tried to force money out of (ex) customer pocket.
The equipment after 2 years is pretty much worthless. It doesn't matter what it's worth. If its their equipment they're entitled to it back.
Thanks for sharing Pam
yes, I think its stupid. No one will be using it
Lucky its free post to return
similarly, with Telstra, you can get out of paying out the modem when you leave by returning the modem sealed.
Gees Pam, you had nearly done yourself a mischief there.
It all packed nicely and is on its way back
If you didn't have the modem I would probably advise to fight it.
This is because it sounds like an onerous condition considering it is part of the setup and modem fee, which is waived on contracts. If you break out of the contract then you should need to return the modem or pay a fee.
If you are out of the contract, normally it will have been deemed to have been paid off across that contract.
Wow!
I actually looked up the CIS for Dodo in an incredulous frame of mind and there it was: the modem had to go back! Nice little sting in the tail for users…

Add that to the myriad reasons why you should never sign to Dodo in the first place!
Excellent forward thinking on keeping that modem box Pam, saved yourself quite the hassle by the sounds of it!
