Looking for a cheap ($50-$100) but easy and sturdy drone for my 6yo.
Any thoughts on Kmart ones? They have some from $29-$79 (and more).

cant really go wrong with this, if they break it or lose it its no biggie
Do you know if the zero X pulse drone weight is? All i can find is total package weight which presumably includes the box and controller too.
In my experience, drones are hard to fly.
I wouldn't buy one for anyone younger than about 13.
Australian world champ won at 15. I wouldn't let an old person try.
Not sure what your point is?
Did the world champion first start flying at 6 or even 10?
I'm confident that a sufficiently motivated 6yo could learn, however, you're going to need a lot of drones, a lot of training time and most importantly, a very patient kid who is not going to get frustrated/bored during the learning process.
Yeah, he just started flying the morning of the world champs and aced it. Just a random kid playing Pokemon GO.
How much does the kid weigh?
My cousin bought a $300 drone for his spoilt rotten 6 year old for Christmas. We all went to the park to fly it. Strong wind blowing. Cousin starts flying gently. Kid has a tantrum and starts trying to grab controller "It's mine, I want a go etc etc ". Cousin gives controller to kid. Kid holds down up button, drone takes off and keeps going up…and up……and up……and away…… never to be seen again. Turns our the first tantrum was only minor compared to what happened next. Father ends up promising to go and buy him one another one the next day as soon as the shops are open.
One the funniest things I have ever seen
I don't think my 6yo is coordinated enough to even drive a remote controlled car yet…
Maybe one of those cars with a short cable could be manageable!
Try it, you might be suprised my boy has just turned 5 and is actually pretty good at it.
that's why I'm hoping for around $50-$75. The only downside is battery life is 7-10min, so will need to buy a second one. Also making sure its one with its own controller. Don't want them needing my phone all the time.
Those Zero-X ones look good. Just to work out which model (Pulse does look good)
Is the 6 yr old an only child?
yes, how on earth did you guess :)
Furibee F36? It's a fairly popular model and has prop guards. Very cheap too at around $20 ~ 25. It's a small drone that's meant for indoor flight (avoid strong winds).
Just be careful they don't fly it into long hair or eyes…
DJI Tello isn't bad for a starter.
the Tello is nice, but starts to get to $150 with a remote. That's more then planning to spend on a 6YO.
Did you end up getting one? I want to get one for my 6 year old as well,, looks like Tello is 120
We got the $39 "Stunt Drone" one from Kmart for Xmas. It goes great and is a lot of fun but sadly the fun ends after about 90 seconds to 2 mins of flight time (just as you get the hang of it) when the battery goes flat and needs to be charged all day to use it again.
It's really quite ridiculous.
The amount of stuff we find we have to bring back to Kmart year round these days is becoming a concern. They have become like a tacky discount store selling crap but with a nice image.
JB hi-fi has zero X pulse on sale from 99 to 49.
