  • I'm hoping they might have some EOY deals on their pay your device prices.

  • If you are currently on a plan with Optus, they will let you break the contract without fees, you will just need to pay your device.

    • I wonder if that applies to someone on a 12m SIM Only plan?
The Choose/Build your own plan idea is good in theory, but in practice it's a shame that choosing removing 40GB of data from the $59 plan (ie 100GB down to 60GB) results in no change of price, and changing from Unlimited International to 500mins or to 0mins removes just $1 or $2/month - so you end up dropping 40GB of data and the international inclusions, and save $2.

  • So they seem to have gotten rid of the option to pay $149 to upgrade your device after being on a plan for 12 months. I always found that useful and reasonable.

There is a trade in page, but that says it ended two days ago. https://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/deals/trade-in

    • That was my first thought too. $149 was quite reasonable.

    • used to be $100 couple of years ago.

  • +1

    Nothing special. x_X

Makes me wonder what type of consumer is Optus targeting. Maybe we will soon find out whether they provide better 5G experience than Telstra? Historically we have seen it isn't possible, but you never know.

  • Looks like a price increase. No phone subsidies anymore.

I guess we have to payup to fund the 5G buildout.

Ironically people won't be getting 5G phones since they aren't subsidised…

    Lucky I got 4x $40 80GB plans.
