Inexpensive Smartwatch - Ideas?

I love watches. I have never had a smartwatch before solely because I never felt they have the timeless elegance of a classic movement.
I have several traditional watches ( none very expensive, all under $500 mark and as cheap as $30 Naviforce from Ali Express) .

For a change, I want to buy a smartwatch but don’t want to spend hundreds on it. So brands like Samsung Huawei Apple are out of question.
Things I want in my smartwatch:

  1. Round face like a traditional watch.
  2. decent battery (not sure what the standard is but charging daily seems painful?
  3. Decent screen/ display
  4. Calls / messages notifications but not necessarily able to answer the phones.
  5. decent amount of apps/ preferably (but not a must) android os so I can try more things.

More features are a plus!
I see a lot on Ali Express ranging from $10 to a few hundred. What is the cheap watch you have tried and found it good? What are some of the recommendations. I don’t want to to spend more than $150 but cheaper the better!

  • I think the Amazfit GTR is a great balance between looks, cost ($200) and battery life, although it does not have an app ecosystem like more expensive smartwatches.

It's definitely a looker though… However you can snag a more functional Galsxy Watch 46mm for $299 in the Black Friday sales this week.

    • thank you for the suggestions (great suggestions btw!) I was mainly looking for something very inexpensive (under $150). EBay/ Ali Express is loaded with no name branded smart watches. Some will have to be good?

      • +1

My usual way to sort through Aliexpress is simply to sort by quantity of orders. So doing this shows that this particular smartwatch should be pretty good:

However - and I might be wrong here - but I would suspect that most watches under $150 from AliExpress which aren't a major brand (ie Samsung, Huawei, Fossil etc) will not have an app ecosystem that you can download third party apps from.

        • How do we sort by quality?
I wasn’t expecting any big brands so that’s fine , it just needs to work :)

          • @kma: I don't think you're understanding b-radicool.

All the cheapies will not have an app ecosystem. They'll basically be a glorified watch with a screen and notifications. If this is all you want, cool, but I'd highly recommend something like the Galaxy Watch if you want to do anything more than that - which you mentioned twice was a want in your original post.

  • Depends on your needs, but there is also the Honor Magic watch (only 7 days battery though) but it's the cheaper version of a Huawei. And it's waterproof at 5ATM as well (I think)

    • Just looked it up. Seems like a decent watch! Thank you.
