Monitor Recommendation - XB271HU or VX2758-2KP-MHD or ASUS TUF VG27AQ

Hi all,

I am not very knowledgeable about monitors, but have sort of brought it down to these 3 choices through research;

ASUS TUF VG27AQ
Acer Predator XB271HU
or ozbargain favourite - Viewsonic VX2758-2KP-MHD

The monitor will primarily be used for gaming. My video card is the 2070s so I was leaning towards the g-sync monitors but have read that the viewsonic monitor can handle g-sync as well (not confirmed though).

My price range is under $700 so these 3 seem to fit the bill (QHD, IPS, high refresh rate and low response times).

Recommendations, Pros and Cons?

Thanks in advance

I am in the same boat as OP, would love some thoughts around these three monitors.

I have XB271HU, would not recommend, panel lottery (mine got 1 stuck pixel near the bottom), lots of quirks, like randomly black screen/flickering, half font artifacts (look it up, basically, it show half of a letter randomly, the only way to fix is to restart the monitor), screen shift (the entire screen would shift a few pixels to the right or left), now I have XV272U, much happier, you can still use g-sync plus you have 10-bit(sorta) and HDR.

  • I have had a few gaming monitors & I like the Viewsonic
IPS is not as fast as TN monitors, but if you want a fast one, you must pay for it

    This is my current Viewsonic:-

the above is a g-sync monitor with 165Hz refresh rate
it is a 2K IPS monitor
here is one for just over $900

    • its $764 now with code PILGRIM!

    I came across this

So I’ve purchased the VG27AQ today from Scorptec. Not many places have stock..

    • They must have only recently done the comparison. I searched on rtings before and didnt see that! Nicely done

Have absolutely loved my monitor. only 1 display port is probably the main drawback as I have work laptop and a dock that id like to connect at the same time as the pc etc etc. But in terms of performance its been fantastic.

        • Thanks for the update! Good to hear it was a quality monitor. I ended up getting AOC AG271QG. Its very good although prob not as much as the monitors above but got it for a steal!

          • @Qmar: I am considering a third 27" and dont need another expensive monitor so ill take a look at the AOC :)

@Qmar: I loved my AOC AGON AG271QX until Monster & Menace jumped from behind on it & it crashed onto my Corsair K95 Platinum RGB keyboard & it took & chip out of the monitor & it left a ghosting of a key on the screen as well; Menace is no longer with us, not my doing.

It has been relegated to my left monitor on my 3 monitor system & my main monitor is a Viewsonic XG2703-GS 1440p 165Hz IPS with a cheap IPS monitor to the right; the AOC is a VN monitor. All of this is run by a 1080ti KiNGPiN

When I had the AOC, I had a Vega 64 LC & the games were liquid, I miss the set-up, but I get the frames with the 1080ti as I play FPS games. I should mention that I swapped the Vega 64 LC for the XG27GS, otherwise, I would definitely get another AOC monitor, I love them

            • @the Unforgiven: Definitely a convert with regards to AOC. I think Viewsonic have also started making quality monitors at a great price. Im looking at getting one of the shortlisted above as my second monitor and the viewsonic is leading due to price compared to the other two

@Qmar: I also love Viewsonic, mainly because my first monitor was a Viewsonic back in the middle of 2000 I think. I got it off this couple that looked after it well & I loved the thing until it died & I bought the Crossover because it was cheap & it was IPS & it was 27"; I was also pensioned by then so no money to by good things.

But then the govt. pension advance came along & Vegemite toast for 6 months was good value for an AOC gaming monitor I thought

I read ALL the reviews for the Viewsonic as I was not going to swap my beloved Vega 64 LC for any old monitor. I still wonder at times if I made the right choice, but then I look at the FPS, and I just smile. It is my main monitor even when I don't game. I have not even bothered to adjust anything on this monitor from the last owner, the colours are just perfect; I love this thing better than my AOC now. I have it side by side and it is like chalk & cheese with the AOC being a TN monitor & the Veiwsonic an IPS monitor. It is not so much the angles as the AOC AGON covers the angles nearly as good as the Viewsonic, it does it but the colours seem washed out, that is all; but you have to pay hundreds more to have better colours for the sharper angles,if it was me, I would sit right in from if I were to play a game or do work on the computer or watch a TV show or watch a movie, get the idea.

If I had the money, I would get the Viewsonic everyday of the year just because it is IPS panel & it does 165Hz (DOOM External is out - woo hoo)
