  Had a quick look through and that was the main impression. E.g. cheapest i7 HP desktop is now $1200, from $1500 and nothing flash.

  HNs are only good for one thing; holding/seeing items before buying online. The customer service rep who got the dSLR out of the cabinet for me to play with was already resigned to the fact that I wasn't going to buy there.
  
  $1900 for something I can get from JB for $1550 or online for $1330. Like heck I'm spending money there.
