Has anyone else experienced this?
I've ordered a $9.99 item on 19/11 which was charged during the date of purchase (as normal) however i just got another charge for 9.99 today for the same item. I know it's the same because I only have one order pending on Amazon and I've done heaps of orders before, so not my first time.
Contacted Amazon support and they told me "don't worry it's just an authorisation charge". I then asked why were there two charges for 1 item… and apparently my 19/11 "authorisation" charge failed so they did it again without an email notifying me. It's insane that they could just take money like that… so now I'm out 20 bucks for an item that hasn't shipped yet. Lucky it was only a small amount but I'm pretty sure it could happen on bigger ones. They just said it will be back in 2-10 business days, which is not that big of a deal since it's a small amount, but I'm still surprised that's even possible.
Also, I've never even heard of authorisation pay from Amazon unless someone else can confirm it. I'm pretty sure pre-orders don't even take money til it's ready.
I know my best course of action is to wait but anyone else had this and came up with a different resolution?
So you're saying Amazon may have accidentally charged twice because the first payment may have failed.
They've remedied this by providing a refund if it was indeed double charged.
What else are you hoping for?
