Sony alpha a7iii with 28-70mm Kit Lens ($2653) @Georges. Stack with $50 AmEx Cashback
Could use Amex to get it further down by $50. Lens is about $350.
Not the cheapest it has been but still cheaper in a while.

I got the lens since first Gen a7, IMHO it's all right. It's decently fast focus, got IS, similar sharpness to Canon 24-105 first Gen. It's a good lens to begin with if you got tight budget.
Yeah that deal was unbelievable, $1000 for the kit AND don’t have you a coupon to redeem a Sony or metabones adapter!
Personally I’d rather use the 35/2.8 than that lens since at 28mm it’s not so hot anyway. In the end I got the 35/1.4 though now I hear there’s a 35/1.8 that’s an option.
Do you ever find that the DoF is too thin at 1.4?
@wittyusername: Sometimes, but the Zeiss “micro contrast” and smooth transition means it’s nicer then the sigma art which I also owned. I don’t need a 50mm or a zoom
fully agree with above, if you're investing into a capable body like this one, you need a proper lens or two to go with it. either a 70-200 f4 or at least an 85 f1.8
Sony cameras (even bodies, sometimes)
seem always to be priced high, IMO.
Is Sony REALLY worth the $$… or is
it just "priced high to SEEM better"
(a marketing trick)?
What makes it better than, eg:
Canon
Nikon
Panasonic

This is Not a Yes / No Q…
(IF you think Sony rules,
tell us WHY, thanks)
the real indicator of quality is the level of adoption by the industry.
if you look at the videos of Trump impeachment hearings, take note of how many photo journalists use mirrorless Sony cameras. few years back you'd only see DSLR bodies in there.
Sony’s level of innovation.
5 axis stabilisation in a full frame mirrorless body.
4K video support is amazing too.
Roughly equivalent bodies in the other brands - a quick google search for prices:
I would say that the A7iii is pretty similar to the brands you mentioned. Sony have been at the forefront of mirrorless full frames, and have a decent selection of mirrorless specific lenses (that also aren't cheap).
Third generation A7 are honestly… monsters.
Even compared to the second generation which I own…
The AF is unbelievable, faster than my previous A99 and mirrorless…
I have used this lens since I bought a A7s mk1 years ago. For the price, it's a great lens - it's light, has in-built stabilisation, no autofocus noise (meaning it's good for video), it's not huge (I can fit it in my backpack). for this reason I've used it while travelling for the last 3 or so years. So if anybody is thinking about it, it's a good option to have for the price. I bought mine 2nd hand and it's definitely done me well.
not to want to promote myself, but if you want to see some photos taken with it, my Instagram feed has photos taken with this lens on about 90% of photos. the body is either the A7s or the A7iii. Here's the link, for anybody interested: https://www.instagram.com/joelklease/ - if it's hashtagged #SEL2870 then it was taken with the lens in this deal.
Probably they don't have this item at the store
My last order is still "processing"
Don't trust this seller as they just post here what they don't have actually!!!
I can vouch for them, they are dedicated and know their stuff. The people who work there have been around for a long time. They are always helpful.
Me to been waiting over a week for a battery grip and still not in stock and can't seem to access their website either.
It does appear that their online business is not upto scratch but their in-store customer service is great. Better than some of the other brick and mortar stores.
Honestly this lens doesn’t do the camera justice.
Suppose it’s equivalent to similar deals for body only if you value the lens at $300.
