  • anything else good on amazon?

  • +1

Thanks, will give it a go

Awesome price for this. I too was infected with the hanayama bug and have started a decent collection.

For anyone looking for a storage solution I recommend these watch cases:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07MX8292B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i…

They are very good build quality for the money and the puzzles all fit in nicely (if you take out all the included cushions meant for watches). Some smaller puzzles you can fit 2 in 1 compartment. But most fit perfectly on their own, with the exception of the o'gear puzzle. That one I have to put in separated (solved).

Good idea. Or a cheaper tea box if your budget is lower.

      • Or a ziplock bag if your budget is even lower?

  • +1

    Thanks, just bought one.

  • +2

Never bought one of these before, but I have Prime so might as well :)

  • +2

Thanks OP ,Ordered one .It took me 38 minutes to take apart & put the Flag Level 1 puzzle back together again so I'll be working on this one for ages.

  • +3

I'm seeing this as $23.49 now.

    • $6.88 for me at 9.30am Sunday..

      • $6.88 for me at 9:51am (Non DST) for me, Amazon has stock so I don't know why you have so many report for being expired. Maybe they don't have prime.

  • Damn I would've grabbed one of these.

    • They're still available, I just reordered as the price dropped further!

  • +1

i just bought this for $6.92

  • +1

Now at $6.88. Maybe price will drop even further?

  • Thanks for this. Never heard of these before and I think I'll enjoy it.
    Prime is definately worth it.

  • Who ever thinks of these kinds of puzzles. Props to that guy…

  • Sweet grabbed one.

  • Great for Xmas day around the Christmas lunch table for adults and kids. Just picked up a 3 wire set from Woolworths for $8. No doubt they will get cheaper as we get closer to Xmas as long as there's any left.

    • 3 wire set

      Do you have a link?

      • Look up lucky lad metal puzzle on the Woolworths online site. There's also a wooden 4 piece set as well. Try your store in the gift section. Basic puzzles, but still a bit of fun.

Thanks OP. Grabbed one for $6.88

Thanks! I cancelled my order and repurchased at the cheaper price.

      • +2

        Haha, so did I.

      • +1

Mine has already been shipped otherwise I'd do the same.

      • I just did the same also.. Ordered last nite prior to posting deal & luckily wasn't marked as 'shipped' yet..

      • Yeah same cancelled and reordered

  • still not sure if this really is a bargain, it does look very sturdy I guess. Never heard of this before but have seen similar thin novelty style ones of these.

    Bought it anyway…lol

    • +2

It's a bargain because they are normally more expensive ($15-$20). They are pretty well made, they don't feel cheap or toy like. Some are incredibly difficult to solve, and will take most people a fairly long time to solve (if ever). Some you can just brute force and accidentally solve but they are then usually hard to put back together if you didn't understand how it came apart. Others you will never solve by accident and you really need to study the puzzle and try to understand how it works.

      • I don't understand how one came apart because my kid did it. :(

        • Which one was it? What's the name of the puzzle?

          • +1

@Shaun Prawn: Cylinder, but I haven't bothered looking for a video or guide, which I'm sure exists. Looking at it conceptually it's easy, but the order is obviously hard.

            • @bxpressiv: That's the first one that I got when it was posted on ozbargain. I got that one apart accidentally too. Think it took maybe 30 mins to get it apart but then it took me about 2-3 hours to get it back together. And then I had to do it another 2 more times before I fully understood how it worked. I really liked that puzzle. There are guide videos available but I refuse to watch them. Some puzzles I have given up on and then I come back to them another time and work them out. I'm currently doing the UFO one and it has had me stumped for a while now. I feel like I'm so close to getting it apart, but I'm missing something.

  • Seems it dropped in price overnight. It's now $6.88.

    • If I've ordered but not been charged yet, does it charge the new price? I wonder…

      • Check ur Amazon invoice in 'Orders'..

      • +1

        No it will not.

Amazon US updates all prices in AUD, once or twice a day - an obvious reflection of exchange rates.

The price you pay will be that which was quoted in AUD at the time of the purchase.

  • I'm fairly sure ebay and amazon are tracking my purchases, and as soon as I buy something they reduce the price by 50%.

  • Expired while I was checking out. Price is now back to normal.

  • Back to normal price

  • Only bought for high plus votes

  • +3

Seems to be working again. Just purchased 1 at $6.20.

    • Me too can confirm even cheaper now.

      • +3

At this rate it will be free after a few days

        • @capslock you might be right…just went back to buy another one and found the price has gone down again and now at $5.62…@Bunsen might need to update the post again…

  • I'm not getting free delivery with prime? + $9.79 delivery

Edit: nevermind had issues with my Prime. Working now.

  • I went through a bit of a phase and have about 15 hanayammas. That bolt one drove me crazy. Big tip…..look after them, they rust!

  • Thanks! Good KK gift

  • What’s a good starter level one ?

    • +1

Yes.. I got the 'Flag' Level 1 puzzle from the deal linked above in description..

Only took about 15mins to solve though, apart then back together, although YMMV..

I'd suggest getting a few easier 1's to compliment this puzzle, although for ~$6 u cant really go wrong, normal price is ~$15-$20 for this brand of puzzle..

      • Appreciated

    • +3

Of the Level 1's, I've got Diamond, ABC, Flag, Shark, Loop and Key. The last two are also available as Disney versions and are the one's I've got since they're all technically (arguably) for my little puzzle princess rather than myself…

      If you don't mind the Disney version, the last two are sold as a pack for $34 plus postage from https://www.mrpuzzle.com.au/disney-puzzles.html and are a great starter if you've got kids. There's actually three slightly different versions of the key - two Hanayama's and one Hanayama Disney, with two rated at Level 2 due to an ever so marginally more complex end piece and one at Level One. I've got the Disney version which is technically a level 2, but it is probably the most appreciated of all of the introductory one's I have for guests to tinker with on our coffee table, and I'd suspect any of the three versions would be equally so. Add them to you watch list in Amazon and grab whichever one dips under $15 first;

About the only level 1 that doesn't tend to review well, is the Hook, which many complain can be forced or bent. You won't go far wrong with the others listed above - or the remaining two from the Level 1 collection; Bike and Trout (aka SeaBream).

      • Many thanks

  • I'm throwing out a challenge to you Ozbargainers - solve Hanayama Hourglass without cheating.

It was my first Hanayama, and after 3 weeks of frustration I caved and used the provided solution, only to spend another 3 hours trying to follow the instructions.

It's an insanely difficult puzzle to solve, and yet looks so simple.

    Have fun!

P.s - I'm kicking myself for not buying this one, I waited too long and missed out.

  • My order got cancelled.. anyone else's?

    • Not I. Received three yesterday.

  • Mine is estimated delivery 17dec to 31dec
