  • looks like 9900k packaging's older brother

For that price, you'd expect a 2080 no?

    • +17

      2080ti :-)

      • If techfast, then two of them…

  • +7

They should release one with two 1TB HDD instead of one, as an Area 51 R.A.I.D storage model

    • The memes are waiting…

Could easily build a Ryzen 3900X/2080 Ti build for this price.

If anyone paid $5998.99 for that thing then they need some counselling.

  • 16 gigs of ram on 2 sticks, what is this 2008?

    • +7

That's pretty standard nowadays. If they used one 16GB stick they'd miss out on the one or two percent performance increase that dual channel gives you ;)

    • Idk why you're getting downvoted, this is an msrp $6000 machine. 16GB is nothing for this price point.

      • My gaming laptop has 32 gigs and I've had that for 3 years, and paid like 3k for it

      • +1

The comment reads like they're complaint is about the configuration of the RAM, not the amount.

Here we go, gift for my nephew sorted.

Hi uncle, I'm overseas at the moment protecting Australia's border. Can you send it to my PO Box?

      Thank xoxo

        Hello randomnephew,
I'm at your mail box protecting your gaming desktop.
        Come n collect.

  • Doesn't even have PCIE Gen4, probably not very good for workstation either.

The CPU looks like a $1000 part, at least it was anyway until Intel slashed the pricing to better compete with Ryzen 9.

  • +6

See Techfast Deals for Better Pricing, Hell you could build your own PC with the components you wan't for this price range and still have at least a 2080 Super.

    • +1

You could build a house yourself for cheaper than a builder.

      • Actually I bet it would cost more accounting for the money you lose by not working, especially if you don't have experience with home building. A pc on the other hand only takes about an hour to build for a noob (so could easily be done after work) and maybe 30 mins for windows to install.

        • And what do you do when you go to install windows and it crashes on some random error? Or even you turn it on and get no boot at all? Nah a "noob" shouldn't be putting together PCs thinking they'll save time.

      • If a house was as easy to build as a PC, you're damn right that's what I'd be doing.

        • I know a guy who built his own house by following directions on the internet. So it's definitely possible and arguably fairly straightforward

    • Exactly, you could build something like this for the same money and get a way better system

half of the price goes to the case.

My gran needs a new PC for web browsing, word documents and playing fortnite. Would this be suitable?

    • +5

only if you upgrade to the 9900x

    • +3

Harvey Norman tech would like a word.

  • 3.3k for a 256 ssd…. Really?

  • +7

Ram upgrade to 64GB Dual Channel HyperX™ FURY DDR4 XMP at 3200MHz + $1,810.00 which in fact is only a 48GB upgrade.

64GB to buy cost at Amazon just over $600. That's already a scam

    • +5

Yes but you’re paying a Dell employee who’s trained in the ancient fine art of installing RAM to do so.

      Their services don’t come cheap.

      • +2

Give that Dell employee a break. They worked hard for that RAM installing degree.

      • +1

@ $1200 just to install the memory their hourly rate is probably the highest in the world

        • 19 hours to prepare the work space. 7 seconds to install ram

  • not even 2070 S

came for the comments…… not disappointed :-)

Er… don't think this value for money. You can do mucho better for that amount of stash

  • Can get much better performance at this price point with a 9900K and a better graphics card.

If Satan created a deal this would be it.

  • If a 9900K retail box did enough pokemon battles, and evolved, this would be it.

It's like it came alive on the shelf Toy Story stylez and decided to eat the parts around it and become a full PC…

at last a pc that costs more than a macbook pro ….

    • only because it's still overpriced

    Good value for money…not

  • This good for Solitaire?

    • +1

If you mean the game, then probably. If you mean your life, then absolutely.

    • More suited for minesweeper.

  • How is this a good price? Techfast can do it much cheaper. Hell, even Scorptec or Mwave if you want to choose your own parts and have them build it.

  • +1

will rep anyone whos not lazy and calculates the cost of building the same pc. just wanna know how much less of a rip off it is now.

  • -1

This is a terrible deal. At no time should this be listed on OzBARGAIN - there is no bargain here.

  • Discount on ridiculous rrp isnt a bargain..
Just like that ebay discount with price jack up seller..

  • I think the issue here is it's labelled as a gaming PC but it's not going to very good value for money in the area.

As a workstation/gaming PC it might be ok. But it's still over the budget I would want. It's a hard sell for Intel HEDT and Skylake X parts with the Ryzen 3900x and 3950X both offering better value for money at the moment.

A quick check on PCPartPicker showed I could build a 3900X and 2080 Super build with better peripherals than the above for about $3k. That included a 280mm AIO and other features you could realistically trim down. I'm sure there's local computer stores that could do a build for $3300 or under.
