  • Not bad , this used to be a 3 months free trail , 4 is definitely better then 3.

Depends what you're referring to. I'd argue 3 bullets to the leg is definitely better than 4.

  • Cheap or free streaming music deals are always appreciated. $1 for a month's access to a large music catalogue is fantastic; the only possible drawback is that most of these services stream lossily compressed audio (compare that to, say, Blu-rays, which have 24bit 96KHz 5.1 channel losslessly compressed music; Blu-ray movie quality is awesome).

    • You are better off with TIdalHifi if you're after lossless streams. More and more new and back catalog albums are in 24bit/96Khz also.
It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

    • Amazon is offering 3 tiers; standard 320kbps compressesed, 16/44 losselss (Certainly the sweet spot for audible fidelity for most people and equipment) and 24 bit 192.

      • Where do you select that?

  • If you haven't already download Youtube music app YT MUSIC. I find it perfect. The odd ad but great music streamer for free with very intuitive controls to teach it the music you like.

Great deal though for music over Christmas holidays. Thanks

    • Does it stop playing when the screen is turned off?

      • Yes, YouTube Music does stop when the screen is off. That is unless one has a paid subscription.

      • +3

As @Lan Mandragoran said, you need a paid subscription. I've been happily paying $3.60ish per month for a family subscription to Youtube Premium, Youtube Music, and Google Play Music for over 6 months now

    • I find google play music much better

  • You get am prime free with prime, not as much content but it does everything i need.

    • I wish they'd just include the full package like Google does with YouTube.

As someone else mentioned. Apple Music and Spotify are worth the extra. Amazon Music isn't quite there yet, maybe when we get Amazon Music HD?

      • Amazon Music Unlimited has completely hit the mark for me, whereas Apple regularly cut out or refused to play certain tracks from albums (a regional licensing thing?).

        • Yeah, generally a regional or licensing thing. I generally find tracks missing in Apple Music are also missing in Spotify, so interesting Amazon Music is exempt.

I haven't had any cut outs, but I am on all apple products except iTunes for Windows.

  • Pretty good deal, hopefully a similar deal turns up in a few months time when Apple Music trial expires 😂

  • if i subscribe and cancel right away does it stay for the whole 4 months or cancel? I dont want to forget it and automatically renew, like Seedy seed said, AM with prime does the job for me but for $1 i wouldnt mind enjoying unlimited for 4 months.

    • Not sure, but I'd guess it would stop working. Set a reminder for the day or so before in your calendar.

      • Regular Prime sends a reminder before the free trial ends and the paid subscription starts, does music have this option?

        • +3

i took the plunge and tried it, you keep your 4 month subscription then it automatically ends :) no need for a reminder or anything.

          • @misticknight: The terms say the subscription goes automatically to 11.99 after trial

            • @Laziofogna: If you cancel right away, the subscription should end in 4 months since it's not under contract.

    • To confirm I activated the 4 month .99c promo and then just deleted my credit card info and all OK stays activated till March 2020, it just has a message that it will not re-new after march which is fine. If you are worried about the charge after your trial you could just create a new account activate then delete your CC details.

Amazon prime music free is bearable but paying for this service is way inferior to Spotify in my opinion.

    • I agree. Spotify has a far better capacity for recommendations.

  • Went back to spotify premium once my 3 month trial of Amazon music finished.

  • The app via Android Auto is atrocious. Very buggy and you can't browse music in it. You can play 'suggested' tracks, or browse playlists, but 90% of the time the playlists I created did not appear there. I guess you can do voice, but I listen to a lot of world music whose artists / albums I have no hope of pronouncing correctly, so that wasn't an option.

    • I have the Prime Music subscription, and find it annoying that it really only plays 'stations'
(I ask it to play "SingerA" or even "SongA, by SingaB, and it plays a station with a bunch of similar songs/artists).

… Is it like this with the Unlimited Subscription?

  • Can I pair it cash back?

  • What happens to the music we download on the phone after the end of trial?

    • +1

It’ll be blocked off until you re-subscribe.

  • Perfect timing for when my free Spotify premium finishes

  • -5

It doesn't work on my Google home mini, so no thanks…

  • Thanks OP. Jumped onboard. Will save some money on Spotify premium for a while.

  • How do I join. Do you need to be a prime member ? I don't see the 4 months for $0.99 screen shown above. I get the Amazon Music Listen to any song anywhere screen.

  • "Payment method does not match country"

    • Mine did that and it was because it changed my credit card expiration date to today. Corrected it to the right date and no issue.

    • Mine says that, I assumed it was because I have a US Prime Subscription
