Ok so due to some bug on the Big W website at the time of my order, I meant to order 2 of a particular item, but after I pushed the confirm order button, it comes up as showing 3. However, my card was only charged for the 2 items. I was curious as to whether they would send 2 or 3, and to my surprise I ended up getting 3. So, is it wrong for me to keep the 3 items, or not? What should I do?
Got 3 items for the price of 2 due to bug on Big W website - what to do?

It's woolworths, they are scumbags…who cares, keep it
In my opinion it's not like you intentionally got them to give you extra, I'd consider the laws in regards to unsolicited goods apply. As in, if they ask you to return it, do so…but if they don't ask, I THINK it's yours after 6 months. (I haven't looked at my consumer laws in a while).
As a woolies employee I can pretty much say that if it got sent to you by accident from the business, that it's yours to keep now. It's no different than say something you bought from a supermarket deli was weighed with a cheaper price, we'll thank you for your honesty, but really just make the most of the mistake
did ya order ps3? or like those 5 bucks foldable chairs?
Keep it. The chances of getting ripped off in the future as payback are high so take this as a win and just move on :)
is it going to keep you up at nights? Do what you think is right, if you needed 2 and ordered 2 then call them up and tell them, they might even let you keep it and you conscience will be clear!
That said, i don't think big w is going to go bust because of their error. They will probably just let you keep it rather than organising return postage etc.Give it to me and I'll sort it out with BigW. Some day. Hehehe.
Consider it a Big W(in).
I think you should let them know. Chances are they'll let you keep it (to avoid paying return postage etc etc)
you are the 95% on the nab ads mate. congratulation .
A current affair put that to the test the other day, nab look like their telling fibs or their being told porkies
Do what? Post your receipt as a bargain, that's what!
I ordered three books for the price of two from Doubleday. They apparently ran out of one. Shipped me the two and that was that. Forget it. It will cost them more in admin to rectify than what they will get from you.
FYI - the items I ordered cost approx $90 each. So I got $270 worth of goods for $180 (with free postage). What adds to the dilemma is that I knew that it came up as "qty. 3" after checkout, so I did have the opportunity to notify them before it was shipped, but chose not to (because I figured the chances of them actually shipping 3 were next to nil - or if they did ship 3, I figured they'd surely charge me extra). I should also clarify that before I pushed the confirm order button, it showed the quantity as 2. Only after the receipt came up did it show 3.
I don't think it matters what others would do Z. It sounds to me like you're having a crisis of conscience, and nobody can release you from that but yourself.
Because, between the lines, you sound like this is more about your honesty and integrity than the 'worthiness' of Big W.
So go ahead: call them and tell them. Anyone you talk to will probably be surprised and a bit inspired. And that's how honesty and integrity rub off: one small deed at a time.
Let us know how you get on mate.
do you know some retailer mark up 100% of your purchase price? we don't know what item that you bought from them, but don't worry too much, same with big supermarket, if they put wrong price on the item, you get the item for free, would you argue with the check out cashier to pay that free item?
It's really up to you, but chances are that if you told them they would just tell you to keep it as it would be more hassle than it's worth to recover the item. Unless it's a huge wall TV or something like that. :) So you could tell them and clear your conscience. They might even thank you for pointing out a possible bug.
one word - KARMA
it's entirely up to you whether you believe it or not.If I told you how recklessly woolworths breaks the law your jaw would drop…
That's why I'm telling the guy to keep the extra item!
please tell us how recklessly woolies breaks the law so that we don't have sympathy in future…?
Surely whether or not Woolworths acts immorally should have no impact on whether their consumers does so? Two wrongs don't make a right!!
Tell us more!
Jesus would keep it, Satan too!
I would send it back. do the right thing.
Meanwhile, some poor sod in the logistics department is probably getting grilled by his manager right now for sending the wrong number of items…
He's probably reading this right now and thinking of murder.
keep 3rd item
forget it
