Great news for the Aussie Startup and also good to have another payment option integrated with Amazon prior to Christmas.
It is live now.

Came here to post exactly this.

Knowing there would already be a comment about debt, came here to post exactly this^
Gotta pay the rich somehow.
We're going the way of the US, where people are encouraged to take up debt to prove they have 'good credit'
I can't figure out why people use zip pay. Seems that it just makes them feel like they're spending less?
It's a way for ppl who don't have credit cards to pay it off in installments, I guess.
Seems dumb. They have it at best and less for a $10 shirt.
I agree, some ppl live pay to pay and have nothing in their bank accounts left over when they are buying said items on zip/afterpay. So I guess these services allow them to still purchase, unwise as it is.
Exactly. All these services (Zip, Afterpay, Humm, Once, Latitude Pay, and the countless others out there) are basically the next generation of what's essentially lay by.
It means retaillers don't need to store product until the customer pays for it and collect; and customers get that instant gratification of getting what they want now.
As long as the customer remembers to pay it off before they get any interest charges, and Retaillers aren't taking in the arse on any fees for offering it, then things work out well for everyone.

These services really are a variation of a low rate, low credit limit, credit card.
Like those student tier level credit cards.
I guess it's targeted to the unprofessionals who have no financial awareness…
The one's who believe "Credit cards" mean you go into instant bankruptcy..
This business is a by product of misinformation about credit cards. Probably stemmed by some bullshit media outlet like ACA and Today Tonight, where credit cards have been put in a bad light. On top of that Australia has poor personal finance education. The service is essentially a credit card. however, the app is quite clever, having vendors on their app.
Bunnings, who doesn't sell online, but they sell on Zip, which is nice.
I don't expect any OzB users using Zip because of points.
I remember that refunds or exchanges are not easy with zippay or afterpay
Refunds with zippay are painless and easy
I've never had any issues with part or full refunds via afterpay.
It looks like eBay will be offering Afterpay next year. So it's pretty much
I just realised I can't add credit cards to Zip Pay and my direct debit failed (although that could be because I had a new card expiry issued). I went to Zip Pay online and it says they only support debit cards?
probably because most banks/card issuers now treat zip pay like a cash advance.
in the early days of zip pay, i used my bankwest mastercard for a couple of low-value purchases and didn't get charged a cash advance fee. a few months later bankwest sent around an email warning that zip pay would be treated like a cash advance.
no such problems with afterpay.
Ah I see. No wonder. I don’t think I got any such email with Citi but good to know.
i would confirm with citi either way
Yay for driving people further into debt!
