  Great deal on the chicken coop. I had it in my basket until my wife reminded me we have a toddler and two dogs we're currently struggling to keep alive and fed and adding to our list of dependants probably not wise.

    First mistake, listen to wife….

    It's quite the opposite, you feed them waste and they provide you with eggs.

        Yeah - I know the rule is buy first, think later around here but I appreciate there is a lot that goes into the care of poultry. And the coop actually looks a tad small.
        I'm pretty sure they need other things in their diet aside from scraps?

          @LuckyDrew: In my experience the biggest expense is definitely chook food. Chooks can be surprisingly fussy and some won't even eat food scraps or weeds (my chook yard is currently overrun with weeds because the idiots won't even touch them! Gotta get the brushcutter out soon!)

          We sell the excess eggs we don't eat to offset the price of the chook food.

            @ameebaro: Agreed on the chicken feed part. They need 100-150g of seed each a day iirc which can add up to KG after kg of seed a week once you have a flock…

        Apart from the initial expense (coop, heater etc) our 5 are surprisingly cheap to maintain. $25 every few weeks on feed and our scraps is all it takes for 5 eggs a day

  Just be careful with this mob. Last time they cancelled all the sale items and only sent the regular items, stating low stock
