Quick one, flying to Japan tomorrow and I purchased the JR west Kansai-Hiroshima pass - Can I exchange the ticket in JR office in tokyo and set the start date when I'm in Osaka?
I will arrive first in Tokyo so I'm just thinking if i can change the ticket straight away and save a bit of time.

I think that you can only exchange at JR West offices, the one at the airport (assuming you're flying into Narita) will be JR East, and the one in Tokyo will probably be JR Central. You probably can only exchange it in the Kansai region.
This is correct, only at select JR West offices where exchanges are done (e.g. Kansai Airport, Osaka/Shin-Osaka station)

Yes you can, i think they stamp the start date on the pass.
Narita's JR office lines are crazy long. I would recommend that you change it at Kyoto Station as the lines there are generally shorter. You can't use it from Tokyo to Kansai anyway.

Depends on the day. I flew in 2 weeks ago on Sunday night at 6pm, was only 10 people ahead of me and I was served in about 10 minutes.
Last time I went there were zero people in line so why not just check first?
This pass cannot be exchanged at Narita.

This particular Kansai-Hiroshima exchange order, cannot be exchanged outside of JR West territory.

Not sure about the other JR passes but I normally avoid activating mine at the airport (unless I need it straight away) and do it at another station (e.g. Shinjuku) to avoid the massive lines at the airport. It can be activated for a future date if required.
Not sure about the JR West pass but would think it would be the same?
