Car Clear Coat Fail? or Can It Be Polished out?

Need some help from the ozbargain car detailing community. Not sure if this is clear coat failure? Can it simply be polished out and then I can wax over for protection? Or is it simply just a stain from water or product (it's all over the roof and bonnet.

Should polish out, looks like slightly etched water spots. Try a light cutting compound

    • Will it go away after washing, or still there? Do you dry your car after washing or allow water to sit? If you don't dry your car, it's likely just water spots, if it doesn't go away after washing and drying, it's likely hard/slightly etched water marks

Looks like etched water spots. Should buff out pretty easily.

Try the Bowdens Own paint cleanse and restore, it should remove those water spots

    • +1 for the paint cleanse and restore. This stuff does wonders for water spots. 25% off at Repco at the moment

  • Just water spots. Needs correction & sealing

    • Is Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax worth using as the "sealant"?

I haven't used that product but have used other Meg's products (Gold Class Carnauba paste???) and they are generally full of optical fillers to give what appears to be a great result but it doesn't last long (say 3 months at most).

So if you want quick and easy but often then it's probably good (as is turtle wax, armourall, mothers, etc).

When i gave a toss about my car I bought a lot from Car Care Products in Sydney https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/ Their offering was a grade or two above Meguiars, etc. I think I got about 6 waxes out of a $35 jar of Natty's Blue paste wax. It looks expensive at first but goes a lot further. CCP no longer have Nattys but they do have Dodo Juice which is also good

Give CCP a call and ask for advice.

Or check out Bowden's Own range which I've never used but they market well and have a lot of followers. the website is full of how-to guides
