Lounge Access at LAX?

Unfortunately I have to spend about ~11 hours at LAX (7am - 6pm). I'd like to be able to get into an airport lounge that would give me a space to work, maybe shower, maybe grab food.

It seems like the single-use Qantas passes can't be used at LAX, which sucks. I do have Priority Pass access and I'm also prepared to pay for a lounge.

Can anyone give me any tips or instruction on what I should do here?

I'm flying to LAX on Qantas and exiting on Avianca (Star Alliance) if that helps.

Thanks

  • FYI LAX has a new uber/lyft pickup system that is causing really bad traffic chaos. Plan accordingly.

Will you be carrying some headphones for your friends?

No LAX lounge will allow you to stay in with them for that long. Better off grabbing a nearby hotel room with a free shuttle transfer, using their facilities and WiFi and eating in their restaurant (or even better… ubering to In N Out!)

Why not check into hotel and get 6hrs sleep?

I doubt you'd enjoy spending 11 hours in a lounge anyway. Get a hotel, or go out and explore the city for a few hours.

  • Even if you had qantas lounge access it isn’t open all day

Most of the hotels around LAX offer day rates so best to do that

HI, I had a similar long layover at LAX in 2017.

Unless your flights are ticketed as one, you will have to carry your check in luggage for the day, so be aware of that. They will not hold the luggage for you at LAX. And you can't check in early for your next flight.

Recommend you get a Day room at the Travelodge LAX - cost me about USD90 in 2017, and it was money really well spent.
You get a room from 9am to 6pm, have access to a very basic continental breakfast (free I think) till 10am.

There's a complimentary shuttle that will take you from airport right to the hotel and back.
You can store your luggage in the room, have a shower and a rest.

And from the hotel, after you've freshened up you can easily catch a bus down to Venus Beach or Santa Monica for a few hours of exploring.

To book a day room, you have to email them directly.

    • I've stayed here too, was a great option but unfortunately has now shut down due to airport development in the area.

Qantas apparently doing pay to enter in LAX

just an option - easy LAX hack, get in a europcar or other company shuttle bus and fake picking up a rental car, heaps of cheap hotels down that area, do the same on the way back

    • This is another option, we did a day room rental a while ago and used the free hotel shuttle there and back.

Nice room, nice bed, good showers, but no free food/coffee/drinks.

  • I do have Priority Pass access

Ok, go to these lounges or get a cheap day room rental at one of the airport hotels.
