Where to Find Cheap Whitegoods in Brisbane?

Gday all

im in the market for a couple of things - electric hot water system and electric freestanding oven/cooker and i am keen to get it as cheap af in true ozbargain spirit. Does anyone have recommendations for Brisbane? Do people generally use gumtree and is it okay to use, ie, trustworthy? eBay doesnt seem to have as many options as gumtree for this kinda thing from what ive seen. Also, are there any el cheapo outlets in Brisbane? And im not talking like $500 cheap, i mean cheap cheap, there used to be places that sold cheap second-hand whitegoods even near where i live but they dont seem to be around anymore. Any help much appreciated.

    I have purchased items from gumtree and never had an issue. Paid cash on collection. Keep in mind that no warranty generally. I had a quick look on gumtree in Brisbane area and there are a few upright ovens starting at $70. A 125l hot water system $100 and some others at a higher price. Other than that keep an eye out when the council does roadside collections. Good luck.

      Also consider local council tip shops. Google search "Brisbane council tip shops". Also have you considered the market place on Facebook? Happy hunting.

    Gumtree is fine, but for whitegoods you have to be very selective. Most people keep whitegoods until they have issues. Then they sell them. Look for ads of people moving or doing renos. Less likely to buy lemons.

      I thought most people keep them until they upgrade, whether they buy a new one or inherit one.

      If it's working but you don't like it, then it's usually easy to resell. I did buy a 9 month old washing machine but I didn't really like it. Sold it for a small profit and bought better one.

    I have a freestanding Westinghouse fan forced oven with ceramic stove that I don't need anymore and could sell to you cheaply. It is still working perfectly, but we upgraded.

    BUT…I am in Sydney, so you would need to have someone who could get it to Brisbane for you.
