Hybrid Flooring Sydney

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone here has hybrid flooring for their place and can give me some honest feedback if its good or not. Long lasting? stands up to its name? Scratch resistant? Waterproof? Doesn't swell?

I've currently got cypress hardwood floors but but looking to upgrade due to the dislike in colour and cracks.

I also have a dog and I've been told Hybrid is 100% waterproof.

Thanks :)

I've just laid waterproof laminate in my kitchen, it's too soon to give any feedback. However, the box says it's only waterproof for 24 hours of standing water so no good if there's a water leak when I'm on holiday.

    • Thanks for the reply :)

May I ask who you used/where you purchased your floors from?

I bought them from Bunnings. They were reduced from $65 a pack to $30 so I bought them then the next day the last few boxes were reduced to $20 per pack so I got them to refund me the difference on the packs I had already bought.

        • Thanks for your reply.

          Thats pretty cool :)

I dont think we have enough skill to install it ourselves >.<

  • What sort of cracks are you getting in the hardwood? How have they occurred?

To add to your questions, I am concerned about any smells/fumes that might emanate from the floor and also whether chair legs and castor wheels will scratch the hybrid floor.

Hi there, not exactly cracks… its the space inbetween the planks im not happy with. I understand the cracks/spacing is there for the wood to contract and expand in Summer.

From what i've heard its suppose to be quite scratch resistant. As we have hardwood at home, we have a piece of plastic for our castor wheel chairs bought from Ikea to prevent further scratches.

  • If you've got decent hard wood flooring, what about just sand, re-stain & polish it?

There're also many ways that the gaps can be filled (best to do in the summer when they're at their narrowest though). Just google it.

    • Hi there, thanks for the reply.
We actually did sand/restain but we arent happy with the colour and we got a quote last week to redo it, basically the guy said as we have cypress the change wont really be obvious ..

As for filling the gap, the guy didnt recommend it and said do it at our own risk… so we think the easiest way to be satisfied with our flooring is to redo the whole thing.

  • We put bamboo flooring in about 5 years ago. It has a few small surface scratches from dragged furniture (lazy us), but otherwise looks great.
We've had parties which have had a few spillages over that time, but no sign of any swelling or water damage.
We also have a large dog, but no impact (scratches) that we are aware of.

(The only problem we have had is a stair tread that came loose, but that's more of an installation issue, not a material issue.)

  • Hey there, can I ask if you went with the hybrid flooring and if so how it went?

    • Hi there!
I ended up whitewashing my wooden floors.
Apparently my floor isn't level and to relevel my floors it would cost $10k alone >.<

      • Wow $10k that's insane. I'm afraid the same will happen to me. Might stick with laminate and underlay as I heard it can tolerate a little more unevenness compared to hybrid.
