  • Series 6 can eat a (mod: edited). I'm so displeased with it compared to the 7 series I also own.
It's my most hated fully functional device.

    All comes down to software.

    • I have series 7 too, and I love it.

What are the biggest differences between series 6 and series 7 in your opinion?

And series 7 vs 8 (For the comment below)

6 is edge-lit, 7 is full-array. This is a big deal when it comes to HDR content.

        • Yep. That's a big difference.

I thought series 7 had local dimming.

          • +1

@BooYa: No local dimming is a deal breaker.

Blacks look so much better with it

      • Yeah I'm enjoying my 7 a lot. Not quite as impressive as a Sony Android TV I had with the ex, but still very good.

A lot of my problems with the 6 might simply come from it being a 2017 tv, with a different 'smart' hub, that despite seemingly hourly updates has never changed or come close to what I see in the 7.
Lack of Bluetooth annoyed me, again maybe it has it now but at the time 6 didn't when 7 did.

Much of the issues may be fixed, but this 2017 model is the slowest most unreliable piece of shit tv I've ever owned… From a respected brand.

        • Thanks for the feedback, I thought it might have something to do with the UI. The series 7 UI is great (although the LG UI may be easier to use with point and click menu).

  • RU8000 is better imo.

      is this the one?

if so - $1,537 delivered from the same place

      • No, the one you posted is not a QLED model.

Although I'm not sure how much difference there is between a LED and a QLED tv.

      • Ps. It may be the one Spaceinvader5 meant - that the Samsung Series 8 LED tv is better than a Samsung Series 6 LED tv.

In which case yes, that would be the same one as the one you posted.

I thought he/she was referring to the Series 8 QLED model (but QLED models don't start with RU).

RU8000 is more consistent across the board.
Brightness is mostly irrelevant here because these budget models don't offer the true HDR experience.

      • They both have an overall score of 9.2, with the 8 series LED having better grey and black uniformity, with the Series 6 QLED having better contrast and brightness, and better pre-calibration (Although the last one can be adjusted).

My guess is that the Series 8 LEDs outperform series 8 QLEDs, particularly in the grey and black uniformity (almost certainly due to the improved local dimming already mentioned) which is important for dark scenes, eg movies, but I don't think there is that much between them (I think I'd still get the newer model, if I had to make a choice).

Bought previous model Q65 for similar price last year, great tv.

    • I just don't think you can go wrong with a Samsung tv, even the cheapest ones look amazing.

  • I am waiting for a good deal on the Samsung Q80R 65"
