You can get 10% at Apple as a student. Alternatively, refurbs (via Apple) can be cost effective aswell.
JB currently have 10% off until COB Wednesday 30/10.
Use the multiple gift card offers.
Also, see if any of your nearby JBs have the older 2018 model (still retina, still USB-C) which is only missing TrueTone display and an updated keyboard (I never had any issues with my 2015 Retina MacBook), then you could maybe save some extra money there. My local sold out of those pretty quickly though after the 2019 model (with identical technical specs) was released.
Oh, and get the 256GB for longevity.

Lol Apple. If you actually cared about the bargain aspect you would get both a better and cheaper windows-based laptop.
