I'm currently using the Optus 4G wireless broadband and was wondering why a lot of sites take longer to load than the Telstra NBN I used to have. With the Optus 4G, I constantly get 40-60mbs, while with Telstra, I would constantly get 30mbs. Just don't understand why Telstra seems to load sites up quicker. Any suggestions?
Latency in 4g is higher. This means for every connection request to server, 4g takes slightly more time. When browsing, your browser has to make multiple connections to the website server to download, data, images etc. Since every connection takes slightly more time, it feels slower. In short, your 4g will appear to be slower while browsing but if you start a big download, it will be faster once initial connection/handshake is done.
