    • Are ASUS and ASRock the same brand?

      • Asrock is the lower end version i thought 😂

        • +1

Out of the box the Asrock has a OC mode of 1424 MHz, the Asus Dual OC has a OC mode of 1380 MHz.

      • Still a 580

  • At this stage and this price I honestly think it would be better settling for an RX570 and saving money or waiting for the 5500 series.

    • Been looking for something for my son— is the 570 nearly as good, is that what you're saying?

I would beg to differ, but I would also say, this isn't a particularly amazing price for the RX 580 (the RX 580 4GB has been as low as $224 delivered and for that price, the performance-per-dollar couldn't be beat at the time. The 8GB VRAM model is fairly redundant for most gamers, because at higher resolutions like 1440P or 4K, your FPS is going to be so piss-poor because this is absolutely not designed for 1440/4K gaming, that all of that extra RAM intended higher AA/AF and other advanced rendering effects simply won't matter one iota.)

I've been running an RX 580 (4GB) for 2 years now and I find it's just capable enough to still be relevant for Triple-A gaming @ 1920x1080 (or 2560x1080 in my case) in 2019 (albeit with a hefty OC). Luckily, most RX 580s OC really well (mine is running at 1450Mhz on the core, which is nearly 200Mhz above the stock core clock speed; you won't find any other mid-range cards that can OC that much these days).

I wouldn't step down to a RX 570, as it would just struggle to push a decent framerate consistently; it's about 10-15% slower depending on the title @ 1920x1080.

I would class an RX 580's level of performance as the bare minimum for gaming nowadays.

        • I got a 1050 2GB as a cheap upgrade from onboard, but now thinking it's time for 1 of these $250 options because I want to try out COD:MW :)

Problem is, there's always something better round the corner, like this

        • I had a MSI RX580 (8GB) and it was an underpowered heap of plastic that just sounded like a jet-engine and released hot air.

Couldn't run Shadow of Tomb Raider on 2K, dropped it down to 1080 and it was just about struggling.

This is my first nVidia card after being AMD from the days of the HD 3870 (2008??)

Sorry for the late reply, OZB didn't give me any notifications for some reason. Without tinkering the difference in perf is like 13% but the price difference is ~65% (more for this model). Once you OC both, the difference is much smaller. While the RX570 won't be able to run most newer games at 1080p60 ultra, it's still pretty capable and should handle 1080p60 medium/high in most games. I personally use my RX570 to run at 1440p75 but I mainly play older games. The idea behind getting an RX570 now over an RX580 is that that large difference in price can be used to upgrade to a better GPU much sooner.

    • Msy had a good 570 sale last week was worth it with the game keys and Xbox pass for 159.

    • General thumb I've found is RX 570 = good 1080p gaming, RX 580 = great 1080p / good 1440p gaming.

RX 570 is good for the price, but I've found it to be long in the tooth depending on what framerate and detail setting's I'd like.

RX 5500 is set to be better than RX 580 in performance, but without a RRP it's hard to tell it'll be same/better cost to performance than what these RX 580's are being flogged off for.

  • i use the rx580 (8gb) 3fans and have no problems playing any game obviously at 1080p. personally i think 1080p is still good enough quality. expecially for 270 bucks cant complain really. they are a tough card.

  • Anyone know what this would be like for red dead redemption 2 that's coming out soon.
I haven't played many games for a few years and am out of touch.

It would blow the minimum specs out of the water and also beats the recommended specs, however from what i understand these specs are aimed at 1080p gaming.

      Recommended specs:
