I have a day one edition of Xbox one. In fine condition just is old and dated. Is there ever an opportunity to trade this in for any decent money or credit? Does anyone have an idea of its value?

There might be if it gets hacked and they havent updated
I am unsure of any packaging difference but the only different with the console and controller is that the controller says that it is a day one edition. As far as I know there is no difference with the day one edition console and a regular console.
Ok, well I guess the question still applies to the regular console.
I think the best thing for you to do is to look at the Facebook groups in your area and also on Gumtree. Maybe even the 2nd hand shops in your area. It also would depend on what is with it. Any games, how many controllers, headset, steering wheel etc.
Have a look on there and make a decision. You should be able get some more money for the day one edition controller though

EB games don't pay any more for special edition consoles, maybe with the box you may get $150 on gumtree but remember you can buy a brand new One S 500GB for a little over $200 when on sale
Xbox one is one of the worst console made. Weak, without any exclusive, no one wants it any more. I would say it worths $120 for Netflix only
If its unopened, it could be considered a collectors item, otherwise doubt it has much value.
