I been looking around for an xbox 360 and on gumtree there are people advertising jtag xbox 360 what are they and how are they different?

either they have a jtag header on the circuit board (something which may have been removed in later iterations) or they have been hacked using the jtag header on the circuit board.
jtag is a "hackers" backdoor into the system.
Think of it as having Administrator access to the Xbox — JTAGing allows you to run homebrew stuff on the xbox as well as running unsigned code.
JTAG is a common, but probably not standardized, protocol for interacting with embedded systems, especially micro controllers.
In this context, it is probably used to allow you to change some firmware on the xbox board.
I think, then u can also play all cheap pirated game disks for xbox. But you cannot go online with xbox live.
I got a jtagged console. its awesome, why the Fu*k i would pay $100 for a new game while i can just download it for free and play it. I connected an extra 2tb harddrive with my zboz360 and i got 212 full zboz360 titles to play. and also i can play all mame 32,Nintendo Playstation 1 games on my xbox360. and the best of all it costed me under $200 for the jtag xbox360 and extra hard drive. if you really love playing video games this is the best thing. game discs usually get scratched and stop working. only bad thing about jtag is you cannot play online games.
