Inversion Tables - Any Recommendations?

I'm thinking of purchasing an inversion table and like the look of the Teeter brand after seeing a segment on TVSN. I had a look at the Teeter website and they have a number of different models from $299 for an older very basic looking model up to $979 (which is way out of my price range).
They had the same model (though blemished) that's being sold on TVSN but it's OOS.

I had a look at the various models on ebay and there seem to be alot of much cheaper models but since the point of the product is hanging up side down I'm a bit concerned about quality/safety - but I can't afford the expensive Teeter models.

So I'm looking for recommendations and also any feedback on the cheaper Teeter model.

Cheers

  • I know Ben Shapiro endorses the Teeter brand inversion tables.
    That's good enough for me!

  • Hey there Chichi
Im not sure what experience you have with the tables so apologies if you know them quite well. If you haven't used them before have a trial of one as they are not for everyone and can further irritate some conditions. There isnt much too them really so you are better off buying one from Gumtree as there are usually quite a few on there. The only ingredient is traction administered via gravity which can be achieved hanging off some monkey bars, not as comfortable but the same result. Just my 2 cents worth as I deal with them quite a bit, Im sure you will get a full spectrum of opinions. So basically buy whatever you like if thats your personal preference but in my humble opinion do not pay a premium for implied better outcomes.

    • Thanks for the reply. Nothing locally on gumtree so need to buy elsewhere. There are a lot on eBay and as I said my main concern is quality and safety since you hang pretty much upside down on it.

    • Advice on good second-hand is sound, but equating monkey bars to decent tables is faintly ridiculous.
Their only commonality in the inversion bit, and monkey bars naturally see you at full 180 degrees inversion unless you're tensing your core (ie, not relaxing).
Tables allow any angle up to ~180 degrees, with relaxed stretch in relative safety. Traction happens for most people at an angle where your feet are higher than your head. In fact, most people only need a small fraction of full inversion.

  • I got one from eBay a few years ago and it is fine.

    • Which brand did you purchase?

      • It was 10 years ago via ebay for about $150:
        Deluxe Products Pty Ltd
        Unit 3, 28 Oramzi Road
        Girraween NSW 2145
        Tel: (02) 9631 4860

  • edit: fixed now. Thanks

  • +1

Anyway, I find myself disappointed as you were OP. The US site for Teeter sees their base model X1 at US $299, whereas the AU site shows $749. The cheapest I've found the X1 at another Australian site is $699 delivered.

What remains is all the sub-$200 eBay gear. Not much confidence in those.
