Krisflyer miles expiring soon | Singapore Airlines

Long story short, got 12,800 Kris Flyer points expiring this December. What's the best way to redeem them to maximise benefits (apart from donating to charity). No plan to travel soon. Any other way I can transfer or sell them online? Thanks in advance.

  • Can't buy a gift card?

  • Do you have any other KrisFlyer Miles?

    • did you mean another Krisflyer account?

Converting to Velocity is an option where 12,800 KF = 8,258 Velocity Points, which is enough to redeem 1x economy flight under 600 miles e.g. Sydney-Melbourne + $20-$30 taxes.

Velocity Points don't expire as long as you earn or spend one point every 18 months.

    • I would rather sell the KF points. You can get around 1c per point, so maybe $120 or so for the 12,800 KF points. MEL-SYD flights are usually around $120, so you only get around $90 of value (after taxes) by converting to VFF.

      • Where to sell these KF points? Any particular website or someone here at ozb community deals with points?

        • You can do it on the Classifieds, but the problem is 12,800 KF miles is probably too low to be useful for anyone, and you can't merge it with a larger KrisFlyer balance.

You could transfer them to Velocity.
    Lose at 1.55:1 though…

    Would you sell partially?
Can you please advise me about the cancellation of krisplyer points about which there was a post here recently?

I might need to travel from Australia (GCoast ?) to Thailand and then in and out of Thailand to somewhere convenient just to cross border for visa purposes. How can you work around that AND what is the best destination?

How many points do I need for one way to Thailand?

How would you sell those points?
    Thanks.

  • Thanks everyone. Looks like converting to Velocity is good option.

  • With Covid-19 going around, I wish Singapore Airlines would allow us to extend a further 6-12 months (on already extended miles) as an exception/out of good faith :(

That may eventually happen but at the moment I think they are too busy trying to reschedule their services and dealing with people cancelling.
