  • Does postpaid mean I ll get a credit check?

Signed up 3 hours ago for $5 ;-(

  • +4

Was having difficulties logging into my Shopback account when it was $5 cashback, lucky me I guess!

  • +1

I'm having issues just trying to sign up with circles life, is anyone else having issues?

  • All good here. Thanks!

  • Wow! They're getting really desperate.

Free phone for 4 months AND $8 cash.

    • +4

Well it's a beta test & a database full of potential clients plus a nice piece of market share & (hopefully positive) word of mouth experiences/feedback- probably worth the investment: strategic rather than desperation.

I'm enjoying my two free accounts for now :)

    • +1

If you activate on 1st November or 2nd to be safe, you could get 5 months use for free. They count the 1st month from the month after you activate the SIM.

      • remember, February 2020 you folks got Kogan 3 months

        • whats this?

          • @chyawala: Kogan $15 for 3 months last activation on February 2020

  • +1

Finally sucked me in. Sold. Thanks OP.

  • is it easy to cancel before the free 4 month ends?

Wonder if it's going to be more than $8 tomorrow?

  • thinking of getting one for the wife too, would I be safe to use my own shopback account the 2nd time for a second cashback or different shopback account?

    • +1

      Different for sure.

      • +2

I ordered 3 (me, wife and mum) using same shopback account and all 3 tracked correctly and are due to be paid out in Jan 2020.

  • Geez I just bought it yesterday 🙄🙄

  • I am already a customer with a sim. Got a dual sim phone though, would I get the cash back if I got a second sim?

    • +1

won't hurt to try since 1st 4 months are free anyway

      • Exactly what I ended up doing!

  • Cashback is not qualified for those who activate their sim after 30 days of purchase? what is this?

    • You need to activate within 30 days to get cashback…

      • Oh yes it seems I misread it, my bad.

  • +4

It's a crazy world when they're not just giving you free stuff but paying you to take it.

Just so you know, if you activate before the end of the month, the partial month you get is pro-rata. So if you activated half way through the month, you will only get 10GB instead of 20GB. You'll maximize your GB and days if you activate on the 2nd of the month. Not sure what happens if you do it on the 1st.

  • Would I be able to transfer to another telco with the same number if I'm not happy with circles?

    • sure, you're always free to port out to someone else

  • Not a dealkiller but not really $8 free cash, they charge 10c for credit card setup.

    • Which will get refunded

      • It does? I didn't see mention of that.

        • From memory yeah it said so on the payment page, the $0.1 is only for verification

          • @flud: I know that's usually what happens with activations and I may have missed small print, but can't say I saw it.

        • -1

          does so

  • How do you sign up and activate later ?
If I put in my mobile number during sign up, they may jolly well churn me away right now ?

    • No, you activate it later to port your numbers.

  • This moves us all

    Now for the fun stuff
Give us some of your details

    • +1

how does that differs to Kogan, CatchConnect ? they got your DOB

      • It's more the way the worded it lol. Also they got your passport/drivers licence

  • Shopback tracked my transaction in less than 8 mins.

  • What if I already ported 2 numbers and wanna do a third? Do I get $8?

    • Yes, I ported 3 and got 3 x $8 cashbacks using the same shopback account

  • can I activate in a month or so?

  • -3

Credit check, postpaid and difficult to cancel

  • This looks like the perfect deal for my Dad, 4mths free and $8 cash back, I feel like I’m stealing something! :)

  • How do I set a good reminder system for these type of things(Cancellations)? Google Calendar or some dedicated app?

    • +1

yes google calendar reminders work great

    • rules of thumb: don't set your reminder a day before 4 months

    • Scheduled email to yourself.

I use it mainly for data so once the data for 4th months are used up, I'll port the numbers out, way before the end of the 4th month.

    • Can also set a reminder in this Deal - click on Reminder under Deal Description, & set up Custom Date👍

    • I've been SIM hopping for about 6 years! Wrote about it here in a Wiki in 2014.

I set up a reminder on Google Calendar at least a week before termination date, & set to remind each day.

Contact Circles.life days before you need to terminate & request termination of service on last day before new billing cycle. Has worked well on other postpaid services like Belong.

Best not to wait until last day! Give them at least 1 working day to process your request.

It will be busy with long wait time on last days, as almost everyone will want to terminate on same day!! Most of us will have the same end of 4 months service date!

A WARNING FOR CUSTOMERS WHO PORT THEIR NUMBER TO CIRCLE.LIFE. When I signed up for a new sim card with a new number from Circle.Life, they ended up mailing the wrong sim card with someone else's ported number. Upon receiving the card, I made a test call to see if it worked or not. That's how I found out they gave me the wrong number. It was a minor annoyance but I was still ok if they gave me the wrong number. But upon registering this new number with the Circle.Life app using the verification code it sent me, I realized then that it was someone else's account with their name, address and access to their phone number given to me by accident. At around the same time they also sent me an SMS informing me that my number was successfully ported over and addressed me using this person's name. When I notified Circle.Life of the mistake, they didn't deactivate the sim card immediately. Even after 24 hours it was still active. It didn't affect me directly, but I could have so easily conducted fraudulent activity given I had access to this person's phone number and knowledge of their name and residential address. It would have been PHISHER's paradise.

    • +1

      That's terrible.
But not terminating the service immediately they were notified - why not Circles.life?

      I think that's what Circles.life call their…
      Surprise Perks
We will surprise you with perks because we love you.

And We’re focused on giving our customers an amazing telco experience.
      I'm amazed!

Mail outs & sites do go wrong.
It's how they deal with mistakes that says a lot about a business - can we trust them.

My bank sent me a replacement debit card with a wife added - it was for a different person with same name.

Vintage Cellars a few months back gave people accessing their site to buy, previous customers details. They still haven't responded to my complaints about the release off my details! They have only acknowleded the breach.

  • In the app, I see upcoming bill for $9 (pro-rated) & $28 !!

Should I be worried? Pretty sure I put the promo code while applying

    • I think it is reasonable to be a little concerned about that. Might be an idea to contact them to clarify.

  • IMPORTANT:
They charge IN ADVANCE on a pro-rata basis beginning from the 2nd month.
This means that if you activate their service in the middle of the month (for instance on 15th), you will have their service for free for 4 months beginning from this date, HOWEVER before the 1st day of your fourth CALENDAR month (where you would still have half a month left for free) they will charge you for the following month where the first half of the month will be free (as you already "paid" for it when you got your 4 months free trial) but they will charge you $14 for the second half of the month.
So, you either need to cancel their service before they charge you or need to activate on 1st day of the month. And if you decide to not extend their service don't forget to cancel several days in advance, before they charge you for the following month.
Good idea to TURN OFF automatic charge of your CC.
In addition, their T&C say: "The cancellation date of the Service will be processed at the end of the month, when you have provided notice that you wish to
    cancel."

  • +1

More info in T&C to be aware of or you may get hit with unwanted charges and continuing "service":
"For termination scheduled in the following month, you will need to submit your request by 12:00 pm on the last day of the month. Otherwise, this request will be taken into account for the following month. All service cancellations will be effective at 10.00 pm on the last day of the month."

In other words, you need to submit cancellation request the month before!
It is also unclear what they mean by this: "All service cancellations will be effective at 10.00 pm on the last day of the month."
Does it mean that you can't cancel in the middle of the month even if you submit your request the month before and will have to wait until the month ends?

    Really confusing conditions.

    • "For termination scheduled in the following month, you will need to submit your request by 12:00 pm on the last day of the month. Otherwise, this request will be taken into account for the following month. All service cancellations will be effective at 10.00 pm on the last day of the month."

Or perhaps it means, during January for example, if a client does not want to continue the service into February, they can submit their cancellation request any time in January up until midday on 31 January, and then the cancellation will happen at 10.00pm on 31 January?

I think it is a bit confusing too - it would be good to have this clarified.

    • regarding cancellations, if you cancel before the end of the month without porting out would you lose your number too? or would it be best to initiate a port out to a different provider say a week before the end of the month, which will also be treated as a cancellation with circles, but obviously your number would be safe with a different provider.

    • did you mean "cancel" or "port-out" ? would you not be going to another provider?

  • did anyone's service die today?

i got connected a couple weeks ago but it suddenly died today. No network service at all.
Customer Service can't figure it out.

i tried my sim in two phones (note 10 plus and iphone) and doesn't work. No calls, data, sms.

    • maybe your number got claimed by a new member like griffith mentioned above

  • +1

So the best way to use this (seeing as it will expire in 30 days if not activated soon) is

    1. start your activation early in the month (so you get more of the 20GB pro rata)
    2. If you are with optus reseller eg Amaysim, allow up to two business days in limbo between sim cards waiting for the changeover (possibly start port on Monday 4th). Other networks, allow 2hrs on a weekday (prob Friday 1st?).
    3. Activating early Friday 1st Nov or Monday 4th Nov
    4. Cancel before end of Feb / or port before end of Feb to avoid being billed on 1st March 2020?
  • Got a 6cent bill! Think it’s a prorata for a day or something
