Subaru extended CVT warranty for MY16

I recently bought a 2016 Subaru Outback from a dealer. After reading online, I see problems with the CVT occurring pretty frequently and hence Subaru has extended the warranty to 10 years on 2010-2015 models. What's changed with the 2016 model that they haven't received the same extended warranty? I feel like I would have grabbed a 2015 model had I known I'd get an extra 5-6 years warranty on the CVT.

Thanks

What's changed with the 2016 model

    They clearly fixed the issue……

    • Considering they did the extended warranty in 2018 and the fact that I don't think most of the cars just broke down in 2015, I doubt they fixed the issue just like that…Reading posts for the 2016 model and the 2015 model, I didn't see any changes whereas for example if you look up the 2018 models, they will say there are tweaks and changes to the CVT.

Pretty sure this is for vehicles manufactured in the U.S. Australian Subarus are manufactured in Japan. Relax and enjoy your car.

    • Oh alright, thanks :)

You're right, didn't see it on any Australian website but I did see it mentioned first on a whirlpool forum.

  • USDM WRX can have different problems to us - with slightly different production specs; they didn't have oil cooler, no exhaust resonator (drones) and our fuel quality is more consistent. And they have a more diverse ambient temperature range across the country.

    • How did you know the AUDM WRX have oil coolers? I've spoken to many Subaru Dealerships and most of them have no idea about it.

  • Slightly off topic, the cvt failed in my 2013 nissan pulsar. Southport nissan submitted a good will request for me and was fixed under good will.$13,000 worth.
