I can hear my foot-steps through IEM - is this standard?

I have a pair of Xiaomi Hybrid Dual Drivers in-ear headphones. When I'm walking about, I can hear my foot-steps quite loudly through the phones, making them not really usable for walking about. Since these aren't really something we can try before we buy, is this standard for IEM?

On the back of that, are there any other better ones out there for under $100 clams?

  • Yea it is pretty common, through bone conduction. Use your just your fingers to plug your ears and you will get the same result.

    These are my fav: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-MDR-XB90EX-Earphone-Headphone-…

They dont make them anymore though so prices going up

    • Brutal. I figured that would be the case, but was hoping that my current ones were just an anomaly. IEM are my preferred type of phones, as buds fall out of my ears and get uncomfortable after a while. I would LOVE a pair of Bose or Sony noise cancelling phones, but the titanium plate in my skull (and its corresponding scar) makes them SUPER uncomfortable as the band sits directly on top of my new addition

      • The ones I linked are IEMs like your current one. Its the extra bass version with very high ratings

  • There are a huge amount of IEM reviews and buying guides on the internet. Do a search - audiobudget.com and head-fi.org come to mind.

  • +1

In my opinion I would say the KZ ZS10 Pro is the best bang for buck.

You may also want to try foam tips to reduce some of that footstep knocking.
