Hi team, I test drove a used ranger a couple of weeks ago and purchased + collected it from a respectable dealer today. Low milage ranger, 5 years old, ex fleet vehicle with 1 owner. Upon driving out I heard a slight grinding noise. I did a few laps around the block to test it out and found it was happening intermittently during acceleration. I returned it to the dealership and they handled the situation very professionally, assessed and agreed that there is a problem. The ranger is now left with them while they explore the issue which they think is something to do with the turbo.
I am in the position where I can cancel the agreement, is this a sign that I should cancel the contract and start my ute hunt again or be happy for the dealer to fix the issue and hope for the best?
Update: thanks for reminder that there are more fish in the sea. Car is now cancelled and moving onto another
I will be asking them to warrant the work being completed at a minimum. Note car only has a 3m stat warranty
Wait and see if they can correctly identify and rectify the fault. If they can’t do that or say there’s nothing wrong then walk away.
