These just came in this morning at my store. Stock levels may vary, but prices should be nation-wide

Fairly certain these are made in China

      Correct

    • Is that a bad thing? I've heard all sorts of mixed things about these m&m bars

      • What 'mixed things' have you heard? Anything we might want to know before we chow down on this deal?

        • Just that they used to use Palm Oil, but upon reading the ingredients I found no mention of it any more

    • These will send your gut info back to the communist party, maybe?

So without downvoting, can someone explain the controversy surrounding this? I understand the issues surrounding China and Hong Kong as a whole at the moment, but fail to understand why that correlates to a somewhat old, but still in date, box of chocolate at the reject shop that was likely not directly sourced from China.

Most things that pop up on this site statistically would have at least a component coming from China, even if it's the plastic wrapping it gets shipped in. None of this is good, but why are M&Ms being singled out here?

      • +1

Its more food from China that gets singled out rather then just M&Ms. I'm guessing its cause they don't have as high standards as our government does in terms of food safety.

Mars has started using excuses to have their products made in China (local supply problems, factories are being remodelled etc.) when everyone really knows it's just cost-cutting, and the quality is crap compared to the old products. Hence large quantities of things like these and Snickers bars turning up in Reject shops because people aren't buying them any more.

        • Thank you for clearing this up

Best before date is listed as 07012020 on my box I should also mention

      • +1

        Okay cool

  • A good price, but at >$1/100g, not a great price.

      Someone here failed maths

        Oops, ~ not >

        • Oops. Didn't see this comment.

      24 pieces at 44g/piece is 1056g.

      รท10 and you're left With $1 buying 105.6g

      Have I done something incorrect?

  • Wasn't available at Westfield Marion…

    • Possible that it was low stock

      • No I asked. They never heard of it. Also there was no space for it where those specials usually are in the store.

        • Weird. Could be that they didn't have it in yet. If you look at the image I attached to the main post, there should be a product code that a supervisor or manager could look up for you and find specific stock numbers at their store and nearby stores
