Up to 10% Back in Google Store Credit with Selected Google One Plans (e.g. $142.90 + $150 Back on 128GB Pixel 4 XL Preorder)

460

Get rewarded for your Google Store purchases
Google One members on certain plans get a percentage back on eligible Google Store purchases in the form of Google Store credit.

Google One members with 200GB plans: 3% back in Google Store credit
Google One members with 2TB, 10TB, 20TB or 30TB plans: 10% back in Google Store credit
Notes:

This benefit is only available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia.
Google One trial memberships and plan family members are not eligible.
You must be an eligible Google One member within 30 days of your purchase to be awarded Store credit.

This appears to yield the best dollar value benefit for the Google Pixel 4 preorder (as it stacks with the $150 credit from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/489818) provided you are happy to spend it on the Google Store.

e.g. I upgraded to a 2TB Google One plan ($12.49 month to month) then ordered a 128GB Pixel 4 XL for $1429. This nets me a $142.90 Google Store credit (to be applied 30 days after purchase), and the $150 preorder credit (to be emailed 8 weeks after shipping).

In theory you could also cancel/downgrade once the credit is applied.

This is the way to go!

OP, what are you storing in the cloud that requires you to have 2TB of storage?

    • +1

I think the idea is that you sign up on a month by month plan and cancel after getting the discount.

    • Probably only for the 10% discount

    • +2

Nothing, I plan to downgrade my plan once the credit is applied (I was on the 100GB plan, of which I currently use 73GB - mostly Google Photos, a bit in Gmail, a bit in Google Drive).

For what it's worth it's also shared with my household via Google Family, so 2TB isn't that insane…

      • Oh, right. I'm following now.

    • +1

My family photos are already over 1TB, and I store all my DRM free media in my Google Drive as well. I'm currently using 1.5TB.

  • So if I am not currently a google one subscriber, and I sign up now for the 2TB plan, would I be able to get the discount?

    • Yes, this is my understanding - it's listed near the bottom of the page here as an ongoing benefit (not restricted to current users) https://one.google.com/about

You need to be a subscriber prior to checkout (they validate the order against the Google account you subscribed with) and you need to be a subscriber within 30 days of purchase, but no other restrictions that I can see.

  • Very tempted by this. Already a Google One member, so would be looking at ~$250 in credit if I went the 64GB version, which I'd then put towards a 3a for my wife a couple of months later.

  • The 30 day spend limit on limited options in the Google store is a deal breaker for me. Google have just managed to get more people to buy more stuff from their store.

    • +1

      What 30 day spend limit?

    • +1

I don't think there is a 30 day spend limit?

    • +2

I just read the fine. You get it after 30 days it lasts for a year

      • Might have mixed up things. The $150 bonus is only valid until April 2020

        • +1

          Correct.
Just grab a couple of pieces of hardware and sell them off for some pocket money

  • e.g. I upgraded to a 2TB Google One plan ($12.49 month to month) then ordered a 128GB Pixel 4 XL for $1429. This nets me a $142.90 Google Store credit.

Not entirely correct. You still need to deduct the $12.49 from $142.90 to get the correct realised amount.

    • I feel you may have to pay 2x $12.94
As it takes 30 days to get the credits

      • Yep you're right.

        • Do you need to be a 2tb subscriber after the first 30 days though?

          • @brawndo: So once you recieve your coupon you can just cancel your account. Go back to the free method if you want. As long as you upgrade, make the purchase and wait the 30 days

  • Thankyou!!! Just did this should be $290 credit coming my way

    • +1

Don't forget in true ozbargain calculating. Minus the 2 months of 2T storage from that $290 lol

      • Also need to factor in how much more you spent on whatever you put the $290 credit towards that you weren't already going to buy. xD

        • But, do you continue to get 10% off the items you purchase with the credit provided you buy them while you're still a member?

  • Thanks for the post, cancelled and resubmitted my order!

  • +1

Note that the fine print says the $150 credit can't be used with another promotion, so you won't be able to put the whole $290 toward, say, another Pixel or a Home Max or something substantial. You'll have to use both credits separately.

    • Offer cannot be combined with any other promotional codes, or with other bundle offers and instant rebates running at the same time.

Store Credit is added to your account, and not provided as a code. From my reading of the above, this does stack. Store Credit is used for more than just promotions, so they wouldn't be able to limit it to not being used in conjunction with discount codes anyway.

Anyone got some sort of confirmation that they will get the pre-order bonus?
The confirmation email I got sent mentions the 10% from the Google One promo, however nothing about the pre-order bonus.
    So unsure if this stacks…?

  • FYI - the $150 google store credit states that "The promotional codes are not stored value, are for one-time use only". That seems very limited compared to say, JBHifi's $150 giftcard offering.

  • +3

This is tempting, but forces you to spend even more money. Hummm …Choices!
    Edit: Just ordered.

  • LOL how long ago was Pixel 3 released ?

1 yr and can get at 40-50% RRP :)

Hope they do better this time lol .

    • Seeing all the hate on Reddit, probably not. Probably even worse this time around.

  • Once the credit has been applied (30 days after purchase) if you downgrade back to free will the credit earned still be available to use?

  • Has anyones pre-order shipped yet?

    • No

    • I just received shipping notification. Tracking number isn't live yet, so not sure where it's coming from.

      • Curious as to when you placed the order? I placed mine yesterday morning, confirmation email says delivery 26-31st, was hoping that might be boilerplate and it would ship sooner but that may depend on the number of orders.

        • I placed my order the first morning preorders opened, website told me it would ship on 21st, received my tracking number Yesterday but it's still not coming today.

        • +1

          I ordered on the 16th at 7AM

Sounds like there's been a SNAFU between Ingram Micro and Star-Track, tomorrow is looking like best case scenario for delivery.

          • +1

@KevinL: Just contacted star -track, they confirmed on the phone the "on-time" delivery is for tomorrow. So as long as nothing else goes wrong we should get them tomorrow

  • Anyone confirmed both the $150 and 10% will apply due to the T&Cs: "Offer cannot be combined with any other promotional codes, or with other bundle offers and instant rebates running at the same time."?

    • +3

The $150 credit is not a promotional code (it is a promotion, but not a code), is not a bundle offer (a bundle offer would be a 'buy a phone and a case and get x% off), or an instant rebate (this would be a discount at checkout).

Google store support (while I was requesting a tax invoice) advised that my order would be eligible for the $150 preorder credit in addition to the 10% Google One credit listed on my confirmation email.

      • Thanks for confirming KevinL, was going to try talk to support but if you already have that's great. Order placed already so thanks for the confirmation :)

These aren't going to make it before the weekend

    • Yeh I'm worried about the same thing now

  • Any ideas if this will stack with the Black Friday offer?

    • I don't see why not - e.g. the nest hub offer stacks (BOGOF + 10% back)

The $150 preorder bonus hasn't been applied yet, but there are reports from US customers that they're starting to receive both credits.
