Change of Mind Refund Policy - The Good Guys

Hello all,
I bought a laptop (hp 14 amd a4 9125) from The Good Guys 2 days ago. At the time of purchase I thought it was an increadbly good deal as it had 1tb of storage, 8gb of ram and a cpu that clocked in at about 2.3 ghz. After setting up windows 10 and downloading chrome I realised how bad the processor was as it could only handle about 2 programs open at the same time. The item is pretty much brand new (with me only installing google chrome and doing some web-browsing). Is there anyway I could get a refund?

    Good Guy's Website has this:-

    1. RETURNS/FAULTY OR DAMAGED GOODS

    13.1. You should check your Goods as soon as they are delivered to you in order to ensure that:
    (i) they are what you ordered; and
    (ii) they are not damaged or faulty. If this is not the case, you should contact TGG as soon as possible.

    13.2. When returning Goods:

    (a) please provide TGG with your proof of purchase;
    (b) it is a requirement for the fulfilment of refunds, exchanges and warranties that Customers use their best endeavours to return all out-of-the-box accessories (such as power cords and batteries) supplied at the time of original purchase;
    (c) you must also return any Bonus Offers included with the original purchase; and
    (d) if you are returning Goods due to a change of mind, the Goods must be in a “re-saleable” condition as determined by TGG.

    13.3. You may not be entitled to any refund or exchange just because any packaging is damaged in transit. The packaging exists to protect the Goods themselves.

    • thanks

      • I hope you can get one. AMDs new Ryzen or the new Athlons are pretty great, but the few generations before that were absolutely awful.

  • I would suggest you ask TGG and offer to buy something else at the shop.

  • I bought a cheap Celeron laptop for $450 from JB and it was hella slow. I couldn't return it, so I sold it on gumtree for $290.

    Do people not google things before spending money now days?
    If you do not know what you're doing when looking at something it should be obvious it's time to google about it.

      Ugh ikr. I want to spend $150 on a fitness band and I’ve been reading and watching reviews for three months. The tech will be outdated by the time I buy!

    • Ironically, I'm from the future and this is what I found from my google search.

  • Put a ssd in it.

    • Won't help that CPU.

      • True. The windows running on HDD. Putting in a SSD will improve the windows load up speed, browsing & a few programs. which seems what he/she wants.

        I even put an SSD in an old laptop with much lower specs than ops. It was the best $60 I spent. My only regret was not putting a larger GB in.

    I once bought a tv from TGG. I was unsure which size to get, and being a cheapskate I opted for the cheaper, smaller one.

    I was concerned whether the tv would be the right size or too small for its location. I explained this to the staff member as I pondered my decision. He told me that if I wasn’t happy I could bring it back.

    After setting it up and watching for about half an hour I realised it was far too small.

    I went back to the store and he saw me and instantly said “too small”? and swapped it over, no questions asked.

    TL;DR I have returned opened and used products successfully to TGG before.

    • Did they give you a refund to your card?? Thanks

      • It was an exchange rather than a straight refund, and I ended up buying the next size up so I paid a bit more.

        • Oh okay, but have you ever gotten a straight refund back to your original purchase method before for anything? Cause I bought another sound bar that we thought we better, but had to do it online since cashback, now idk if i cant get a refund for my original soundbar

          • @kypermaster: No, I have never needed to for something already open.

            If it’s not open they still might. Try contacting your local store.

            • @jjjaar: Oh okay, I'll try and see if i can return an opened package hahaha
