Cathay is a company where terrorists took over, they emptied( or half empitied) the oxygen bottle not just once but three times after the Hong Kong protest.

After reading these news I don’t know if you dare to take their flights or not anymore.

  • Brexit chaos and HKG's current issues no doubt impacting travel market into UK and HKG. A double whammy for CX, a nice airline, good food, good entertainment package and a generous baggage allowance all included.

Presumably these flights are via HKG?

Sad to see what's happening with Hong Kong at the moment. HKG and Dubai have been my favourite airports for Sydney to Europe travels.

    • Dubai ?! You've got to be kidding me…

The Jewel in SG opened up on time. Arguable one of the best transit airport in Asia, together with Tokyo, HK and Taipei.

    • I feel it's become an opportune moment for the island city-state in many ways.

  • I have flown with Cathay Pacific and thier services are exceptional!

Realistically the risk is not safety so much as travel disruption - if protests shut down the airport again you could easily be stuck in Hong Kong for a couple of days, but the problem is that some travel insurance policies might not cover political protests and those sorts of acts, in which case you might be out for the cost of missed connections, prepaid accommodation etc. I had the chance to book very cheaply via HK recently (they’ve been running these fares from time to time over the last month) but with my schedule the risk of delays wasn’t worth it

  • Etihad is cheaper. Arguably crappier but still, several hundred dollars cheaper.
