Washer Dryer Stacking Kit

Hi,

We purchased the Bosch Washing Machine (WTW87564AU) and Dryer (WAW28620AU) today and looking to stack them when it arrives this weekend. However, GoodGuys didn't have the stacking kit, and looking at the prices online ($183!) makes me feel good I didn't buy it:

So a couple questions:

  • Is a stacking kit necessary?
  • Can it be bought cheaper somewhere?
  • Is there a standard/universal kit that can be used or a less expensive alternative?

Thanks!

  • I've just got a door mat between the washer and dryer to reduce vibrations. Just got to remember to close the dryer door or things get LOUD.

  • Is a stacking kit necessary?

Normally yes, otherwise the dryer wont sit properly and be secured. You need to remember that the washing machine vibrates a lot.

Can it be bought cheaper somewhere?

If you have a part number, check with a few stores, they might be able to order it for you and give you a discount.

Consider wall mounting the dryer instead. That's common practice in lots of units. The wall bracket is cheap, but involved some labour to fit it.

    • Wall mounting not an option. Renting.

      • Why? It's not that hard to patch a few holes. You could even just leave the bracket for the next tenant - unlikely the agent would notice that a bracket has been added.

        • Laundry room may be tiled. Hard to patch tiles.

        • It's a heat pump dryer, not a venting one. The dryer is 53kg and cannot be wall mounted because it's too heavy.

It might be heavy enough to hold down the washing machine with a rubber mat in between.

The model numbers in the OP are switched around.

          • @skid: Yea, its heat pump and too heavy, ended up buying the Pacific Air Mat from GG.

  • I thought $183 is reasonable. Paid more for my Miele one.

    • It's a piece of plastic, so I think $183 is expensive, even though it might be cheap compared to the miele or what you're spending on a washer/dryer.

  • Yoga mat worked for me

  • Just grab a rubber mat similar to the yoga mat suggestion above, but built for purpose:

We have something similar for the past 8 years, bought from Masters when they existed. Coupled with these for the washing machine’s feet there have never been any problems even on the highest spin settings.

  • +1
    • Thanks for the links, I didn't know about the second one thats in stock. Its white, discrete and $10 off with the current GG coupon, got that one.

    • Much cheaper, but its black won't look good between by shiny new white appliances. Thanks anyway though.

      • Is that the only thing you worried about?
Hardly noticeable, you can paint it white? lol

      • dont worry, delete post

      • Who's going to see it? Isn't it in a laundry?

We have Bosch washing machine and a heat pump on top. We have some High Density floor underlay between them. You need the legs on the bosch to be perfectly adjusted or it bangs on spin cycle.

  • I just kept the bit of styrofoam that protected the bottom of my dryer and used that in between. It has lasted 7 years so far and the dryer hasn't moved a centimeter.
