Bullied at Work, What to Do?

OK, So the bottom line line is working for NSW Health and getting bullied.

Get pulled into a meeting at 8am on Monday morning, official notice supplied at 4pm on the Saturday. No time to get union, advocate etc. Also during late early shift, as boss wants to skin me.

So then at the meeting my boss calls my support person a "fcking ahole" on the Monday during the meeting. My support person a manager from a different department at NSW health and also husband, then get suspeneded from site. Alleged aggresion(proably to being called a fcking ahole). + 1 month and no action taken against boss, I am told that I have work with my boss again!

What would you do?

Its the abridged version, you have to pay for full content!

  • Yes

  • I was thinking yes

  • ????

  • its great commuting fodder, and a real life problem somewhere

Firstly, get your union rep in on the matter.
Secondly, file a grievance complaint about the process on the basis that the time line was prohibitive of seeking appropriate union representation.
Thirdly, lodge a formal complaint about the behaviour of your boss towards your support person, for unprofessional conduct.
Document the Monday meeting to the best of your ability. Escalate the matter to your boss's line manager.

    tl;dr

Wife does something wrong at work and the boss wants to have a chat.
Wife shows up with her hubby to flex his guns.
Boss kicks him out of the building.
    Wife goes back to work.

..Only one person being skinned today…

Yeh, bosses ignore all procedure and code of conduct, its a good old lynching…dont you know

Partner shows up as Captain Compliance and the proverbial goose for the oven

This guy needs to be hired as a professional translator.

    • How deep in your rectum did you have to dig to pull that one out?

  • @Rolts, you get the points.

Union consulted and joined post incidnet and have offer limited help
The alleged aggressor has been allowed to resume duties with no discipline.

partner is still suspended, and have not received apology.

keep detailed records, times, dates, witnesses, what was said. Make sure you have copies of any emails, files etc on a USB stick at home. Stay calm at work and don't do or say anything to give them ammunition

OzB has a bully thread every week .

Seriously you need to play better tactics than bringing Hubby to the battlefield .

Everything can play out but normally he/she who has the most influence wins !

      True dat…batman was unavailable

Go passive-aggressive on the boss … slash his tires, dump on his desk, etc.

    • +1

Yeh is that what the OzB bikies are for?

      • +1

nah - OzB bikies are all talk, no action. If you want something done, you have to do it yourself … or checkout gumtree.

  • Pretend the bullying/aggression from the boss is making a difference to your overall attitude and ability to get work done and function in your role. Find a positive role model at work (or from anywhere) and absorb all of their attitudes.
Keep positive, your boss wont like it but its not about them, its about you.

    • @DarthAntz…thanks……dont need to pretend

Have you submitted an IMMS report? I know a lot of the time they go nowhere, but at least there will be a paper trail. I've had a possative outcome from 1 of the 2 indcedents I've had to report. ( I also work @ NSWH)

    • Yeh, will IMMS on Monday. They are quite powerful… as it is something the senior managers review.
Do you think letter to Board is worth while?

    • +10

NSWH evidently don't screen their employees for linguistic skills haha

Yeh LOL, would like to explain..but yawn

Aggressive husband bullies the union and OP calls boss a fudging ant hill

  • What's a support person?

    • Procedurelly one gets to have a support person at a formal meeting.

    • Someone who also gets suspended for your indiscretion

      • @Spiff …Someone who gets suspended for stating policy…

The People Matter Survey was worse this year!!!

  • Why was there a meeting in the first place?

    • +1

@mbck…. your the first to ask, wish you were the GM.

It was a simple issue between two co-workers……which has now been resolved…

However, the management and subsequent allegations were not dealt with as per procedure or policy , and have escalted to this mess ….

Having worked for NSW for a long time. I find this hard to imagine nowadays.

Geez, a minow at work had a Director removed ie: Answers to a Minister.

  • I am totally lost at OPs predicament. Sorry

  • +1

Based on OP’s complete rubbish style of writing, I agree with all disciplinary action brought forward.

  • If even the union was offering little help there are some important details missing from your story.

  • Have you really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
