Anecdotally, yes with the caveat they seem to adjust the cashback amount on confirmation to be off the final price you paid (minus GST).
Example I went off was Mario Maker 2.
*Ordered around 3rd May with my original Amazon email stating = Total Before GST: $62.73
*Looked for my Shopback confirmation email 2 days after saying cashback amount = 2.82
*Looked up my online cashback history via website and it was confirmed at $2.38 (after whatever the waiting period was)
*Final invoice from Amazon after the price drop to $58 = $52.73 before GST = 2.37285 (non-GST amount *0.045)Thanks, that's great and cheers for looking into it so well.
Already have this ordered through Amazon. Am I right that the lowest price gets charged or do I have to cancel and re-order?
They drop it automatically for you, should be able to see it on your order history.
Ah yep just found it. Awesome! Thank you.
Lowest price gets charged, it should already show on your order page.
Note the $5 discount is not automatic for existing orders and wouldn't be considered when factoring in the 'lowest price'. You can contact support and they may credit you the $5 (which I did for 3 orders), or you can cancel and re-order to get that.
I'm assuming you are a prime member and eligible for the $5 preorder deal. Best price would be the $64 not the $59 after the promo.
Thanks Smigit. Yeah I pre-ordered this one during the $5 bonus period. Thanks for the heads up you've been able to chase the credit for other orders. I might give it a try with my Pokemon Sword & Shield dual pack I placed a while ago.
Yeah that’s one of the three they credited me $5 for :)
This isn't true. I ordered Death Stranding at $68 less $5 making it $63. Amazon then dropped the price to $64.15 and my order dropped to $59.15.
Same thing happened with Luigi's Mansion.
Hasn’t happened to all 3 of my orders placed prior to the offer coming in. Orders (3 again) I placed after the offer this week have a “promotion applied” of -5 on the order details. Others do not.
I’d at least check what the current price says for each item to be sure.
@Smigit: Price definitely dropped automatically for me. Strange that it doesn't for everyone.
@lukethefish: Mine also auto dropped on luigi but after I cancelled and reordered with the $5 (which was before this current price).
I guess it just depends what status your order was at.
@eagerfisherman: I didn't have to cancel tho
hmmm I wonder should I cancel my glow in the dark case from ebgames for $5 savings…
Did they match a cheaper price for your pre order? Think mine was $79.95 when I pre ordered…
They will match gamesmen for sure
Some EB stores will price match but withhold the pre order bonus
@darthhasbro: Never had that issue myself across multiple stores shopping there for something like 15 years. Won't say it doesn't happen, but it'd be a pretty shitty store to do so.
Hmm have this pre ordered at EB for the kids… But it's $20 more, comes with a glow in the dark case or something though so they are unlikely to price match right?
Yeah, EB generally won't match pre-orders if they deem what you're getting from them to have some significant differentiating factor from competitors (the steel book in this case)
I'm a sucker for glow in the dark steel case. Guess I have to hand in my ozbargain card :(
What if I say it also comes with the polterpup key ring too
@luffyex2010: It does? I didn't see that advertised! Bonus
Thats not my experience at all. The vast majority of my orders via EB are because there is some sort of preorder bonus and in every case I've been able to price match and retain the preorder bonus. Dozens of orders across maybe half a dozen stores over the years. I know other people do this just fine also.
I wouldnt count on them matching Amazon (online only) or say Costco (membership fee), but most stores will likely have no issue matching Big W, JB, Target and the like. Those three all have it for $69 FWIW.
If you're concerned just ask the local retailer ahead of time over the phone. If they won't let you keep the preorder items then try another store within a reasonable distance or go in knowing you have a choice between a lower price at Amazon or paying much more for a steelbook.
The fact I’ve had no issues is the reason why I use EB at all to be honest. Usually get around the lowest price plus the bonus stuff other stores don’t have.
Exceptions are editions that other stores don’t get, but preorder bonuses are itemised seperatly and often are their own $0 line on a receipt.
Do you happen to have an official reference of policy? My EB just flat out refused when I said Gamesmen - did not even mention difference in preorder bonus. They will only price match local stores they say, and according to them, has been policy for years.
By the game from eb and get the case then return the game and keep the case.
Estimated delivery of the 5th to 11th of November for me so I’ll just grab it instore for a little more.
Pre-ordered one thanks !
EB have a $39 with 2 trade in games deal for this - any idea how to find out which titles are valid for trade in purposes? Can't find a list online, but haven't done a trade in with EB before so might not be looking in the right places.
Ring them up with some titles and they'll tell you if they're valid or not, or go in-store if you have quite a few and they'll be more then happy to help.
I think it needs to have a minimum certain $ value trade in, $10 maybe in this case?
I spoke to an employee a few days ago and they said each game needs to have a $10 trade-in value before any trade-in bonuses.
meaning they need to think they can sell it for $30 - 40
Just for anyone interested: you can purchase this on the Nintendo eShop for the reduced rate of about $64 when you buy the Nintendo 2-pack game voucher thing for $128ish (the deal can be found in the eshop by navigating on the left side down to Nintendo Switch Online. I’ve only just cottoned onto it. Better than paying $80 for new digital releases.
Obviously disregard if you are wanting physical, but this is a great saving for the eShop on a AAA game.
How’s amazon and sending out games to arrive on release date?
Pretty good in my experience but I guess not without risk as it's a Friday release. But apparently if you get in touch with them they'll give some sort of compensation if it doesn't arrive (usually)
No good if you're not metro imo. I live in FNQ and I had to wait 4 business days for my SMM2, released Friday I got it the next Thursday.
Would the game come factory sealed (in plastic)? I don't play games and am new to Nintendo games. Thanks.
None of my Amazon Switch pre-orders have been sealed - but they are obviously new.
It depends on the publisher. Almost always no for Nintendo games, third party releases usually are.
Preordered one! Thanks op!
Careful with this game.
Even though Luigi is shown on the cover. he's actually NOT a playable character in the game.lol, this isn't true. Luigi has been shown as playable in every single trailer.
Its a mario kart tour joke, still dumb out of context
Got it from EB $79 with bonus glow in the dark steelbook!!
How quickly do you get the game delivered (if I live in Melbourne)? How many days after the release date?
I've had 2 pre ordered games arrived on launch day itself. Inner west Melbourne.
Played this is PAX yesterday and came home pre-ordered it.
Prime member will cost me $1.99 this month, or $0 after the Shopback $2 bonus when buying Luigi's Mansion.
i just preordered mine, what are the chances id get it tomorrow release day? :D
99.9%
With these price drops, does the cash back still get paid properly?
The tracking email you get will have a different price to the final payment.
Same as when links awakening had a $1 price drop after release and they refunded it, wondering if that will stuff up the cashback as well.
