Security Alarm Recommendation and Bosch

Hiya OzBs,
Was wondering anyone have experience in using Bosch Solution 3000 and it's Bosch RSC+ app?
In addition, if you have good experience in using other brand security alarm (remote notification, remote arm/disarm), can you please share your experience too? (good/bad)

I am thinking to purchase Bosch Security alarm (Solution 3000), so I can use the Bosch app.
However, the review is really not convincing (LOL), so I was hoping if anyone keen to share the good and bad)

Thanks,

  • Also interested, looking for something that can easily integrate with home automation such as Zwave or Google/Alexa

    I would recommend Ring (optional $3/month - Cloud backup);
Zwave - You can use any IP camera.

I have a bosch 6000 with a sim card expander board. I can sms instructions to the alarm and receive alerts on alarm/fault etc

I use myalarm sms control app

    • Hi raytriplej, do you know if for sim card expander option, we need to pay extra for the SIM card, ie: monthly or annual payment (for keeping the SIM card active), presuming the SIM card has free national unlimited sms included in the package?

  • The sim card expander came without sim card, I just bought a prepaid telstra one.

Pretty sure I bought it through cheapalarmparts.com.au

From memory there was also an ethernet expander board if you didn't want to go SIM card.

  • Are you using / planning to use an open source home automation system such as OpenHAB or Home-Assistant?

  • We had the bosch installed to replace an older alarm that no longer worked. It is a very expandable alarm system - we have two touch screen pads (non genuine), ethernet with the app, remote controls that also control the garage door and a smoke alarm fitted (wakes everyone including the neighbours). The app is very slow to connect and is only really good for arming and disarming the system and even that takes some time. I'm not planning on any home automation but wiring diagrams are available online.

  • Am in the same boat, would appreciate more input, there is a lot of talk on security systems and cameras, but not on security alarms. Probably they compliment the other and both are not required?

Bosch systems may be more stable?

I personally use solution 3000 from Bosch. I am planning to add ethernet module with couple of more sensors in future. If you understand bits and pieces of programming, you can do it on your own. Else get someone to do the installation and get the installer code from them so you can do any minor edits later on.
It might be worth doing some research on 2000 vs 3000 as you may be able to save a bit more with 2000 if you don't want to add tons of sensors and addons.
