Looking to maximise my extras benefits.
Anyone know of a place in Melbourne city or Eastern suburbs that take health funds (specifically AHM) for $30-$40 or less?
Cheers,
EDM

the massage place in Forrest Hill (opposite EB Games) do remedial massage for cheap.. They're not the best, but they are good enough.. but if you want a REAL proper massage, the ones in shopping centres aren't my recommendation
You would only get 15 to 30 minutes at that price?
I'd be happy with that, only consideration is the extra's benefit pays $33 so obviously the closer the better. Can keep going back for more too ;)
No one (properly qualified) is going to massage you got 45-60mins for less then $60 in Australia
The people working at clinics like that usually get around a 50/50 split with the owner considering how physical giving massages are all day you would be hard-pressed to find someone willing to work for less then 30$ an hour (that includes super).
You might be able to find private business (the home job) willing to do it for 50$ cash but the quality of those can be questionable and i always question the hygiene practices of cheap massage places
Even in countries like Fiji if you want a proper qualified person with lotions your looking at 30+ an hour
I'm happy with half an hour too, whatever maximises the benefit. Can probably book two half an hour sessions together and claim both?
I've seen students (obviously not qualified) for $15 per hour.. they don't take health funds as far as I'm aware!
The rebates are normally different for sessions less than or equal to 30 minutes and greater than 30 minutes, so when making the claim, you have to specify how long the massage was based on the receipt and your claim is then processed with that in mind
Thanks stueyh, I'll get in contact with AHM and see how they process it.

Happy ending?
Why not? ;)
Come here handsome maaaaan
Handsome boyyyy
A lot of the insurers who sign up agreements with these providers have minimum pricing.
That is why without the 'remedial' component in the name you'll find most will do the same thing a good $10-$20 less under an hour but with remedial and thus claimable, it goes up up.
The rorters will be harder to find publicly.
Try Banyule Massage Therapy Clinic in Rosanna. 60min $60 and rebated. They are open 7 days a week too. Found a really good myotheropist there but she’s pregnant and leaving.
Or if you want cheap, you can go to Melbourne Institute of Massage Therapy & Myotherapy in Heidelberg where you can get students to treat you. They are always a looking for patients to practice on. I haven’t been there but I think it’s about $25 for an hour.
Thanks mate, might be a bit far to go for me but good opportunity for anyone in the area!
I once looked for this too, but found anyone trained in remedial massage were charging wayyyyyy more than 30-40 more like 90-120 for an hour session.
