Transferring is blank on Samsung Galaxy Note 9

So,I'm facing the problem where i plug in my USB drive in to my phone via OTG.. however,the option for transferring files is blank.

    Download the samsung usb drive

        Just Google and download a samsung usb driver. Install it while the phone is Unplugged, and then replug your phone. That should work

          All I'm finding are ones for windows and not Android

            @[Deactivated]: Yeh you need to download for Windows…then Windows will read your samsung phone. And that's it

              @mbck: You've misunderstood his question; he's plugging a usb thumb drive into his phone, not plugging his phone into a computer.

    What filesystem is the USB drive? Does it only happen with that USB drive?

    it works only if I plug the converter into the phone and then plug the USB into the converter, but not if I plug the memory stick in to the converter and then plug the converter into the phone

      it must be my OTG cable because the Samsung one works fine.

      the branded one i got from Officeworks is skinny and is able to be plugged in to my phone with the cover i have. the Samsung one cannot fit because of the cover.

      Problem solved for nothing.
