Looking for Cookbook Recommendations

Hello,

I'm looking to expand my recipe catalogue slightly and I realised I don't own a single cookbook! I'm looking for dishes that are realitvely quick to make (around 30 minutes) and also relatively healthy. Not healthy as in salads or vegetable based dishes but something like healthy variants on tasty carb heavy foods like pasta or curries.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Cheers.

If you don't mind paying for it the CWA Country Classics book is full of quick and easy recipes for the whole family. It's been around for ever.

I’ve always been a Jamie Oliver fan. The recipes are simple and easy, but also super tasty. A lot of his recipes can be found online too so you can try a few before buying the book.

ive Bought many many cookbooks over the years

Jamie’s quick ones 15/30 mins are decent

The 4/5 ingredient cookbooks are good as quick and easy with not many ingredients

    CWA as mentioned is good

    Top tips
Kmart ,big w and target have a huge selection of cookbooks at good prices and some super cheap ones I buy 3 or 4 every time I go in there

I also stop by vinnies salavos shops and always check out the cookbooks and buy a lot for $3 or so

But check out some online pages like taste.com.au

Quite a few cooking websites will let you put in your ingredients and not will give you a recipie that uses them

  • Dealbot has been putting a lot of free kindle? cookbooks up on here previously but really depends you can start of with freebies on the internet for the time being?

  • I still have my hs home ecc cookbook (Cookery the Australian Way) which I use more for the information rather than recipes (I do have a few favourites in there though) . It has conversion tables and stuff on freezing and cuts of meat. I assume the CWA book mentioned above has similar.

Jamie Oliver does a good cookbook and they turn out mostly as per the picture. Woolies is including some of his recipes in their monthly book so can try them out.

I have a Slow Cooker Cookbook. It takes4- 8 hrs to cook but you just prep and throw it all in the cooker and it does the rest.

Oh and Thug Kitchen (a vegan cookbook) for dealing with mates’ food allergies/intolerances. It has some really interesting substitutions.

Otherwise, I installed Recipe Keeper on a device (it’s iOS/Android compatible) and store may favourite online recipes in one place.

    Jamie’s 30 minute meals.

Stephanie Alexander - The Cook’s companion. Always a good one to have. Can grab early editions pretty cheaply.

  • Google

  • I found some good recipes in this book

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/200-Twenty-Minute-Meals-Cookbook-Co…

However, google or library is even better/cheaper. Just save the recipes you like that work well and/or are quick.

With respect to Jamies 30 min meal book I found the prep took me a lot longer than it takes him. No way could I complete one of his meals in 30 mins.

  • The jamie oliver 15/30/whatever aren't bad.

I also like the Ottolenghi cookbooks for something interesting.

Anna Jones A Modern Way to Eat is also good

Nb: I'm not vegetarian but I do try and emphasise plants in my diet
