I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab s5e (first ever android tablet and coming from ipad). I was led to believe that the microSD slot could be used for downloading and storing files. I am probably missing something but cannot copy anything over to the card unless i physically remove it and then insert into my laptop and copy files across that way. What am i missing??

No i want to be able to tranfer movies from internal memory on tablet to microsd card that i have inside tablet. Using the laptop is a bit more of a pain. I also tried connecting up the tablet and laptop and copying it directly onto microsd card using the usb c cable and it would not copy.

i have a tab s4 but had plenty of other samsungs, i assume you have yet to plug your tablet into your laptop with the supplied usb cable? it will come up as a new removable drive on your laptop and you can then just drag and drop files from your laptop to your tablet
As above tried that but it wouldn t let me paste it into folder.
I've had shoddy USB C cables before, where it detects the device but doesn't allow data and semi charges.
Try another cable.

Basically use the USB cable, plug into laptop, make sure the tablet is unlocked and give permission to access data (this will popup on tablet screen)
Then access the file via My Computer or whatever OS you're using
I'd recommend creating a folder on your Micro SD Card called Work, Movies, Series, Study etc
Just so you can find it easily.

Might be over confident here but think im one step above dummy status. Already know how to connect things to laptop and make and rename folders. Been doing that for years but this just wont copy and paste directly onto card when tablet connected to laptop. Going to try transferring a downloaded movie from internal rom on tablet to inserted sd card in tablet and see if that works. And also try a new cable as suggested above
What error message are you getting and what micro sd card do you have?
When i hit paste from pc it would do nothing.
I downloaded a movie yesterday and transferred it from internal to the inserted micro sd card woth no issue so thinking it may have been cable as suggested above.
