What are you MEANT to do with old shoes? Landfill like everything else?

    • +7

What are YOU going to do with them? Landfill like everything else?

      • What? I was legitimately asking, no need to deflect to try and absolve yourself of the same question. Surely there's a facility or program that recycles old shoes.

Can't you get 50% off at Catch and similar sites ? And throw your old shoes in a charity bin.
I hate the way big corps make out they doing the community a favour, meantime paying a bowl of rice to produce their product.

Most charities are legal tax evasion while the corporate sector is the largest recipient of welfare in the country.

    • +1

Outlet stores are already discounted, so this is a stacked discount.

Still waiting for NB to do their 50%/BUPA sale

    Great idea.

  • +1

Does that mean they'll only give discounts to those with good quality shoes?

Too bad they look like dad shoes

    • +2

NB typically make shoes for running/training. They're not supposed to be fashion items.

Wonder if you can just donate shoes without buying, would be good to know which local charities take shoes.

I was interested, then I saw they put that big "N" on the side of all women sneakers. Ugly.

    • +5

      You'd prefer a swoosh, or 3 stripes?

      • i thought the logo looks a bit like a lightning bolt…

    • I used to think the same about New Balance (boring big N logo), but I've come to live with it, given how good their shoes can be.

This is a great idea, but really 25%? Couldn't be just a bit higher?

The New Balance outlet is literally the worst sports outlet around. You save around $10 an item, they have no sizes and it's all old stock.

    • -1

Their sale is always garbage compared to Adidas and Nike outlets that do half price sales frequently.

No wonder their outlet stores are always so quiet.

    • I find this odd too considering they were slashing the hell out of their on-line store a couple of years back

  • Looks like a 'Z' logo to me

Key issue I see here is that it's New Balance

Pretty sure you can get better deals without having to give up some perfectly good runners. Or if you don't want your perfectly good runners, take them in to the charity bin yourself.

    • You can get the discount by giving them runners you would otherwise throw in the bin, too.

      • -1

Would you throw good condition runners in the bin? Perfect deal for you then.

        • Mate, is it you or is the English language that complicated?

If you have runners that are not good anymore but broken, kaputt, finished and you would throw those in the bin, instead you can give those broken, kaputt, finished runners to NB and get the 25% discount. So instead of the broken, kaputt, finished runners ending up in the garbage with no benefit, this way you can get 25% at NB and use that discount if you so choose.

          You keep your good runners!

          Is that clear now?

@Lysander: lol shut you neck parrot, and enjoy your new balance sneakers.

            • @Budju: I have plenty - do not need any new ones currently. I only buy when I actually need something, not just because it is cheap.
But thank you. At least it is apparent you understood the system now.

  • Has anyone tried this? Do you have to trade in at the time of purchase or can you trade in for a voucher to use at a later date? TIA

  • Ends October 13
