The Rhinowares Professional Milk Jug 600ml is designed by baristas, for baristas. It’s entirely built with 1mm thick heavy duty stainless steel, which keeps your hands cool even when the milk is hot. The thick walls improve the jug’s durability.

The ergonomic handle is designed to make steaming milk a comfortable task for the busy barista. The pouring spout is angled to allow for smoother, consistent latte art pouring.

Etched into both sides of the jug interior are volume measurements in millimetres and ounces. By using these as a guide instead of guessing, you can reduce milk waste and save money. For some cafes, this could mean over $1,000 per year in milk savings.

This Rhinoware jug is dishwasher safe, but hand washing will keep it in the best shape for many years.

I'm no milk jug expert, but what does this do that this $6 one from Kmart doesn't do?

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/stainless-steel-milk-jug/10…

    • One is made for industrial use, the other is made for home use. One would imagine the industrial one would last a lot longer than a $6 KMart one. Not sure if the kmart one has measurement level etched in either.

I think you'd be hard pushed to wear out a stainless jug with milk and steam in what ever setting youre using it in!

I’ve got a Rhino jug and a cheapy that it replaced.

Along with the internal measuring lines, the Rhino jug is made from much thicker stainless. This thickness means that the jug takes longer to heat up, and helps to improve the milk texturing - by allowing you longer to get the milk to optimum temperature.

      I highly rate these Rhinos.

I'm sorry but are you heating up the milk or the jug? Because regardless of how thick the jug is, the milk is what I'm injecting steam into and whether it be 1mm, 3mm or plastic, the jug makes very little difference when heating up milk, rather it's the pressure of steam in your steam boiler and the amount of milk you're heating up that makes all the difference.

Now if you're heating up your milk by heating up the jug and using the jug to transfer heat into the milk then sure, the thicker the steel the longer it'll take, but you're doing something very wrong if you're doing it that way.

Both! By injecting steam into the milk and heating it, the heat is also transferring to the jug. As this jug has a larger thermal mass than a thin walled jug, it soaks up more heat - hence increasing the time that it takes for the milk to heat up to 65 deg C. This increased time allows you to better stretch and texture the milk.

          • @The Captain: You could just add more milk? The specific heat of milk is x10 that of stainless steel, the weight difference between this and a eBay jug is ~200g of steel or in terms of thermal capacity 20g (which in turn is approximately 20mL) of milk? Alternatively you could just set your fridge to a lower temp and give yourself more time to texture the milk or set the steam wand to less than full power.

            • @serrin: Or they could keep doing what they are doing since it is apparently working well and not waste milk or electricity.

@bargainpersona: If you're suggesting people just keep using their current milk jugs and not going out and buying 500g ones because of some misguided belief that it will give them amazing milk like at their local cafe without learning how to texture milk properly and that the thickness of their milk jug makes little to no difference in the end result and is mostly placebo then yes, I agree completely :).

                • @serrin: No, i was just saying your suggestions were ridiculous - unlike someone being willing to spend a small amount more on a nicer and probably more functional jug that will potentially last a lifetime.

                  • +1

@bargainpersona: Lol, ok, last a lifetime? Sure. I guess this is somehow going to last a nuclear holocaust but an eBay one is going to fall apart the minute you look at it funny. My suggestions are ridiculous how exactly?

  • I bought a Sunbeam one for $15 a little while ago and thought that was cheap so this has measuring and is cheaper. Seems like a decent deal to me.

  • Shipping kills the deal for me.

Shipping is 100% of the product???

    • It is still 33% off though, overstock doesn't really reduce OP's shipping costs

  • Shipping is 100% of the cost :/

  • I have a 360mL Rhino at home and it's great. Main reason we got it was to have a smaller jug and prevent needing to add way too much milk so that the wand reaches it. Not really relevant i guess because this deal's for the larger one..
