I've been waiting to get a UPS for my NAS, this seems just a dollar more than the cheapest price ever.
Its compatible with Synology NAS according to the official list: https://www.synology.com/en-global/compatibility?search_by=c…

Whoops sorry, my first post. Let me edit.
I've got one of these and it just turns off whenever there's a power surge. Unfortunately it happened the first time just out of warranty. Wouldn't buy another one.
Oh? Didn't you give it a try when you first bought it? Or did it work then, but not during a power failure?
Turning the power off is fine but it just shuts down with a surge.
Oh darn, no way to test that. Thanks for letting us know though. I'll also try turning off the main switch to see if that changes anything.
How else should it handle surges? (Genuine question, not being a smartarse).
It should cut over to battery for the duration of the surge. It definitely shouldn't just turn off.
Maybe invest in a whole house surge protector by the sounds
Does anyone know which battery to buy for this model?
Doesn’t it already come with a battery preinstalled?
yeah it does, but mine died and I was unsure which to get :)
How do you know when to replace? Is there any indicator?
@expatOz: i had a blackout and although it'd been on charge the whole time i only had a few minutes before it shut down. there may be an indicator.. not sure…
@spa: These are pretty small UPS'. Depending what you had connected to it, a few minutes is right… at the full ~400W they're capable of, they'll only run for 4-5 minutes.
@robberbutton: ah true, I have it hooked up to just my modem and my server (which receives a shutdown request when the blackout happens), so in the past it has lasted much longer!
@robberbutton: „at the full ~400W they're capable of, they'll only run for 4-5 minutes.”
Given it’s 700VA, at full 400W shouldn’t it last less than 2 mins?
@spa: A UPS is really only designed to allow a controlled shutdown of your computer, not to bridge an extended power outage.
@Quarn: yep, that's pretty much my purpose. i just noticed it lasted a lot longer previously. currently (and probably for over a year) it lasts long enough to shut down my server so hasn't bothered me much. But this post kinda just reminded me it's time for a new battery at some point but I couldn't find what model to get and haven't been bothered to open it up yet.
12V 7.2Ah SLA Battery for replacement.
thanks!!
I'm a newbie to this stuff, but here's my experience so far…
Got this recently, after getting a Synology DS918+.
With that connected, the router and my NBN box connected, it has about 40 minutes of juice after a power cut.
When power comes back on, the Synology notifications have a record on the NAS switching to battery and back again.
We had a microwave tripping power recently and had 2 unscheduled power cuts by the power company and this worked well with the NAS.
What's the difference between OP and APC 700VA at $118.81?
https://www.eyo.com.au/559395_apc-schneider-apc-back-ups-700…
I've generally found APC/Schneider Electric a lot easier to get warranty, batteries and and service for.
I found finding a cheap UPS and NAS compatibility difficult - perhapse thats the difference.
Well I know everything supports APC - so you're saying the CyberPower isn't well supported?
oops - price would be nice
