What do we think for the weight?

    • 990gm?

      • That's the weight with the MX250 - which i can't seem to find a weight for…

All the Aussie specs pages for the non-mx250 models have the same 990g weight listed, but half of the promo pages is full of the mx250 info.

So are they the same weight somehow, or have the purposely hidden it?

They have dedicated GDDR5 chips too, not shared memory, so it isn't merely the chip missing, plus the cooling solution should be different between the two models, so at least one more copper heat pipe and a plate mounted to the GPU.

It has to be noticeably lighter, right?

US Acer site for the no dGPU model (https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/NX.H0DAA.001) lists 2.14 lb which el-goog says is 0.9706876718

I'mma go with that I guess?

Edit: Argh! Another no dGPU model with an i7 and higher cost comes out to 990g anyway. Maybe we're just meant to say 990 regardless?

Edit2: They're all the previous 8th gen Core family models so they're irrelevant anyway. Don't mind me, clearly I got teh stoopids

    • Scorptec lists it at 970g with Intel UHD 620 Graphics

      https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Notebooks/Ultrabook/7491…

Not sure if this is the correct answer or not.

      • Yeah, that's one of the 8th gen models I found, it looks like they want a 10th gen model without dGPU, which doesn't seem to exist yet

Edit: It does appear to be a 20g difference with the 8th gen models between dGPU and integrated (990 & 970) so it could be right?

  • I contacted Nividia and the weight of the card isn't standard so won't be published or something they can advise unfortunately. Their response was "NVIDIA provides only basic GPU chipset design to laptop manufacturers and all specifications are completely decided by them. So I request you to check with laptop manufacturer". So I guess that's where the guessing element is. Answer will be 990g less the chip weight!

  • It doesn't say the guess has to be right

Down the bottom (only saw it after entering): "Must guess the weight of the designated model."

    • +2

T&cs says "Only entries that guess the correct weight will be entered into the draw, with the exact weight revealed after the Promotional Period"

Gonna be honest, website dose not look legit with bare bones minimal content and looks like something a scammer would put together lol
