Australia Open - No Seat Map

According to the Australian Open ticketing FAQ - https://www.tennis.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/AO2020-…

Can I book exactly the same seats as last year?
No. Tickets are allocated on a best available basis

Walking through the online ticketing platform there is no interactive seating map. I used to study this pretty carefully but at the moment am pretty much just being given the same seating position as last year (which I usually booked a few days before).

You can still pick ticket prices though (classy).

Overall I dislike this change, what are your thoughts? Any secrets to picking from the seating map?

Edit: Post appears to be inaccurate I am now able to select seats just like every other year.

  • I have bought my tickets for MCA already, check this thread for the presale code

I was able to choose which seats I wanted.

    • Wow. I can now select seats at least down to the row like every other year too. I'm not sure what was happening. This post now seems to inaccurate.

Previously I was only seeing an "indicative seating map" and you could never select a particular seat just had to go through a "best available" wizard.

      • Is that maybe because tickets aren't on sale to the public yet?

  • Never been to a sporting event as badly organised as the Australian Open. Wimbledon was delightful but the Aussie Open is just painful as (profanity). Getting into the Heinekin beer garden is almost impossible, as is trying to see a decent player on an outside court. Tickets for the main courts are only for 'sessions' and not all day. Just a typical Australian money-grubbing event where they try and wring every damn cent out of every punter with tennis being the loser in the end.

    • +1

Considering the amount of people who go each year, they must be doing something right. Yeah it's pricey, but have you seen the Prize Money? Plus they are hardly gonna reduce the prices when so many people keep paying.

First 2 days are best for seeing decent players on a Ground Pass, after that with 3 Main Courts to fill you will find most decent games on one of them. Unless you enjoy doubles.

Pretty sure the tickets for Melbourne Arena are for the whole day, only RLA and MCA have 2 separate sessions. And if you are on them for the day session you can stick around on the outside courts later.

And why the (profanity) would anyone complain about not being able to get into the Heineken Beer Garden?
