Should I Leave eBay Feedback?

So I've recently had an issue with an Ebay purchase where the item is past its delivery date by over a week, so a total of 3 weeks from date of purchase. I contacted the seller who has offered to send a replacement but said if the original one arrives then I should not accept the delivery. When I was hesitant about that they offered a refund but said if the item does arrive then I should pay them back. It was a bit of a headache with this back and forth emailing so I accepted a replacement only for them to now tell me that they tested the item and found that it is faulty and they won't receive a new batch for another month and so are now offering a refund. I'm also skeptical now that they sent it at all since no tracking number was given and the other information doesn't add up.

My dilemma is now that they advertised as an Aussie seller but seem to actually be from China and they've requested I don't leave any feedback (negative or neutral) unless I'm willing to give them positive feedback with at least 4 stars. So I'm wondering if I should leave feedback and if so, should it be negative/postive/neutral? They did refund me for the purchase so the issue was technically resolved, albeit in a frustrating manner. If it matters, the seller has nearly 350,000 reviews so my review wouldn't be changing their feedback percentage very much and the item itself was not expensive.

What are your thoughts Ozbargain, should I leave feedback and if so, what kind of feedback?

I think you should wear the red panties today

  • Leave the feedback that you think is best and a valid reason. eg: "Item didn't arrive. refund given" (probably nuetral)

I wouldn't bother leaving feedback but I would report to eBay that they misrepresented the items location.

I've reported (over email and phone) a power seller earlier in the year for misrepresenting the item's location. Ebay did nothing.

Item location misleading ? If yes, 100% negative feedback Full stop.

This kind seller deserve Neg feedback when it comes to misleading about location. Ebay itself will not do anything. Only buyer can warn other buyers

    • I was considering negative feedback for misleading location but is it possible they have a warehouse in NSW but are based in China? Their seller profile definitely makes me think they're based overseas but they even have Koala in their seller name and state the item is in NSW

If their "warehouse" is in Chullora its a dead giveaway that they are overseas. Chullora is the main postal sorting centre for sydney, which is why the tracking info originates from there.

        • Damnit it was Chullora, but why do they pick a postal sorting centre but justify late delivery? Wouldn't it make more sense to pick a farther out place in Aus?

        • Some now just list their location as Sydney. Very annoying when you want something quickly.

          • @Wickz: I remember they used to list as Darwin or somewhere else in the northern territory to justify late shipping when they were actually overseas, saying NSW is pretty brazen

i would've said neutral, but item isn't from australia, so that in its own is misleading.

Having Koala or australia flag does not mean they are in AUS.

First warning: 3 weeks no delivery within australia ? Definitely from china.

2nd warning: they bullshit saying tested item faulty. Bla bla bla. Typical excuse.

  • Main reason untracked items go missing is customer theft , follow far behind with misplacement and postal problems .

    • then send as tracking.

      then charge more.

      then that's business, there're risks

I would do everybody a favour and definately neg. eBay is driving me nuts when I need stuff relatively quickly because of all the sellers saying they're in Aus then drop shipping from China.

    • I'm in a similar boat, I needed the item before I leave for overseas in a few days and now I won't have time to buy it again from a different eBay seller. It's just that they did refund without me having to push..

Easy to refund, because they didnot post it in the first place.
They are waiting buyer to ask refund, then refund immediately to make them looks good.

        • Gosh, I hadn't even thought of that..

          • @yessum: I assumed it was more along the lines of, hoping the customer forgets about the parcel and the seller just gets paid for nothing.

            • @0burntrice0: That I had considered, it was quite a low cost item, and usually I have lower expectations and expect slow shipping. It's just I did pay a bit more to buy it from an australian seller for faster shipping so I did pay more attention to the item's delivery this time

Had it happen so often with Chinese sellers. Item never arrives (as Iā€™m pretty sure it was never posted) and when I ask for a refund they always say they will only refund if I leave 5 star positive feedback. I refuse - open PayPal dispute and copy in sellers message and within a couple days I normally have my refund direct from PayPal Then I leave the, negative feedback.

I feel your pain. Takes an hour to find a simple item on eBay that actually ships from Australia nowadays, have to look through detailed feedback of every seller to make sure they aren't shipping from China. eBay don't care, they are still making their extortionate fees.

  • And that's the kind of problem that "fulfilled by Amazon" solves šŸ˜‰
