Strange Missing Space on HDD

I was looking to do some cleaning up on my HDD when I noticed that one of the drives was suddenly more full than usual.

Basically what I've checked is the partitions, crystaldiscinfo, and windows explorer. I don't know why it is showing up like this but it is very strange. Should I just move everything off and reformat or is there something possibly wrong with the HDD? It's quite old, but I was wondering if I should still use it to store data.

Is there something else I can check? Hidden items are already shown according to the checkmark.

    Also, you aren't looking at hidden folders there. Those checkboxes are just saying that the files you're looking at aren't hidden.

      Also in the video it shows hidden items selected at the top. At least I think it should somewhere in the video.

      Wait oh right hmm. Apparently it found 97GB of unknown… (had to manually select it in the menu)

        I can see a few files in WinDirStat that aren't visible on your video. You definitely aren't seeing all files.

        Turn off system restore, empty your recycle bin and see what happens.

        (Full disclosure, didn't watch the vid, just offering tips)

          Apparently it's some sort of shadowcopy or something according to the 3808876b-c176-4e48-b7ae-04046e6cc752 part.

          Quite annoying, but I managed to delete it via system restore even though at first glance I thought because system restore was never turned on it, that it didn't have anything in there.

            @[Deactivated]: Yeah. Maybe turn off system restore for that drive only. Or, just don't worry about it until you actually get low on space :)

    Was the Local Disk D used as drive for windows? Could there be a backup image of windows or old windows updates on the drive?

    Windows search file thing can suddenly get huge, I've seen it on mine before
